Secretary Mrs VickiVerrill

This is my first newsletter and what an action packed one it is too!! With spring around the corner I think we are all keen to see the back of the wet, muddy conditions and look forward to light nights and sunshine! The start of the Pony Club year saw the Parents Annual Meeting, the meeting was well attended, thanks to all that came out on a snowy evening, for those of you who could not make it pleasevisit the file on our members facebook page for a general round up of the past year.

Sadly we said goodbye to Michelle Dent as Secretary, huge thanks for all your hard work over the many years. Victoria Baker-Verrill has kindly offered to take over the role as Secretary, and I would like to welcome Vicky to the team. Alison stood down as District Commissioner and has now kindly taken over the role as Treasurer, we would like to thank Alison for all her years as DC and for staying on as Treasurer. I was voted in to take over the role as DC and is presently going through the change over procedure and will be 'Acting District Commissioner' until this is confirmed.

This was a massive achievement for Alison and me and I am so grateful to you all for bearing with us through the teething problems. This is such a fantastically efficient way for us to organise rallies and events and to keep on top of the payments and administration.

Well done to our members who competed at the Triathlon at St Peters York. Catherine qualified, Saffron came 1st in a mini minimus team and Hattie,Rosie and Sienna came 5th in the tadpolesteam event.

It’s time to start thinking about our entries for the 2018 Area competitions, the dates are attached below. We are hoping to get a junior team together to compete in the summer series Show jumping (dates and venues are constantly appearing)we can submit two teams should the need arise, we can also change team members according to availability, likewise individuals can compete on their own. The junior sj rules can be found on our fb members page under files. Except for the Area show jumping (1st July) these competitions are entered either independently or via Jodie. The junior regional show jumping finals are at Bishop Burton in October.

We are also attempting to sort out a Novice show jumping team, an Intermediate sj team, a Bramham jumping team eventing and dressage teams – I have attached a form and would appreciate it if you could fill it in and return it with payment (in previous years we paid a lot of money for entries and then members weren’t available) the payment amount is for 50% of the cost of the competition so it is still subsidised via our club. Once we know numbers we will select teams or hold a selection session please only request to compete at the level you are already competing at as your standard will be assessed before we place the entries. Members can now compete at more than one level per discipline and if eligible can compete more than one pony/horse.

The level at area competitions is high, the competitions often take all day and you will be expected to stay to wait for presentations and should you qualify you will be expected to attend the Championships please do not apply for area qualifiers if you’re not prepared to do this.

The Championships are brilliant fun and we will fully support everyone attempting to achieve the dream of qualifying. Please contact Zoe if you have any questions regarding Area qualifiers.

I wish for my son/daughter………………………………..………………… to compete at the Area 3 qualifying competitions.

Please note Area mounted games dates have changed since our last publication

Select all disciplines and provide payment with application. Members will only be selected should we think their ability matches the request and we can only enter the junior dressage and jumping as a team so if there are too few members we will not be able to attend. A Show jumping selection date will be arranged in May should the need arise. As a parent you will be required to transport your children & ponies to the events & please make sure you and your child have both read the rules. At the time of competing all members must have completed 3 rallies since the 1st July 2017 (camp counts as one rally & one rally must have been in 2018) all rallies attended are logged on our data base.

Without this form your entry will not be accepted please return it by 5th April 2018.

Bramham team selection will also take place in May (this competition is not subsidised and includes a charitable donation to Bramham’s selected charity). We can only send one team of 4 to Bramham the course is 1.05m. and transport will have to be shared as we get a limited amount of entry passes. We cannot send individuals to this competition so if we only have two individuals who are interested/capable we will not be attending.

Payment will be returned if the member is not up to standard at selection. Please pay via paypal or bacs with an area reference.Entries for all the area competitions have to be submitted via the D.C. or team trainer. Return this form to: Mrs Zoe Jenkins 68 Limestone Road Burniston Yo13 0DG
