European Debut for Agfa Graphics' Acorta Automatic Cutting Plotter at FESPA 2015

Versatile automatic cutting plotter with auto recognition on display at FESPA 2015 in Cologne, May 18-22. At the booth it will be driven by the integrated wide-format workflow Asanti 2.0.

Mortsel, Belgium – May xx, 2015

Acorta is an automatic cutting and finishing plotter dedicated to respond to the requirements of the cardboard, digital printing and signage industries. It helps wide-format printing companies turn a wide variety of printed rigid and flexible sheet media into finished decoration, containers, banners etc. that truly stand out.

"We are developing and all-integrated approach in which our customers can add an extra in-house finishing step, all driven by Asanti," said Dominiek Arnout, Vice President for Inkjet at Agfa Graphics. "Rendering, printing and cutting in one workflow allows them to be more productive, more efficient suppliers with a higher return on investment for their business."

The Acorta uses an innovative auto-recognition system and a multi-tool cutting head. It automatically recognizes the printed images and reference points from the designs on the cutting table. The multi-tool cutting head can fit different tools for various materials. Acorta comes with a complete range of these and an automatic pre-setting system, easy to configure depending on the material to be worked. This versatility makes it possible to cut, mill and crease many substrates and applications. It is even possible to handle them simultaneously thanks to the vast selection of flexible functions.

Acorta also features a powerful and bright high-resolution video projection system, which clearly projects the printed image and cutting shapes onto the sheet. This makes an easy visual check possible and avoids making errors. The Asanti wide-format workflow delivers not only the cutting details and the cutting lines, but also the image for projection, based on the actual ripped data. This tight integration of the printing and finishing workflows brings maximum automation to the production process and allows for minimum operator intervention.

FESPA 2015 will take place at Koelnmesse, Cologne, Germany from18-22 May 2015. Agfa Graphics will present its portfolio of Anapurna and Jeti print solutions, Asanti software and Acorta finishing equipment on its booth S60 in Hall 6.

Acorta was released for sales earlier this year. Acorta is available worldwide, except for North America.
