Guided Practice: TTW use the Notebook File to model for the class what ones, tens, and hundreds look like. TSW watch as the teacher models. At this time TTW also write the number she created in standard form and expanded form on the SMART Board. Note: When you use the Notebook File, you will have to copy the blocks you need, ones, tens, or hundreds, from page 2 of the file into the page that has the columns for the numbers.
:  Modeling: TSW each be given a dry erase board. TTW use overhead base ten blocks for the overhead or regular base ten blocks under the flex cam. She will create a number with the blocks and the students will write the number she created in standard form and expanded form on their dry erase boards. TTW do about five of those and then change it up. Now TTW write a number on the board and the students will create it with their base ten blocks. TTW take turns writing the number in expanded form or standard form.
Independent Practice: If video conferencing is available, this will be done via Video conferencing. If not, you can still use two classes to do this part of the lesson. Both class need cards that have numbers from ranging from 0 to 999. I would say each class needs about 10 numbers. TT should make sure these number cards are made before this activity. Each class also needs base ten blocks either per students or per partners. The classes will take turns holding up a number. Both classes will write the number in standard form, then in expanded form, and then create the number with their base ten blocks. After one class has held up a number, the other class will hold up a number. The teachers in both classes will act as the facilitator at this time. This will continue back and forth until all numbers have been used.
:  Closure/Review: TTW write a number on the board and ask TS to show her the number with the blocks. Then TTW show a number using the base ten blocks and the students will write the number in standard and expanded form. TTW then repeat the Objectives to the class and asked if we covered that today.
:  Assessment: TSW be given a number. Then on a sheet of paper they will draw that number using base ten blocks, write that number in expanded form and then write the number in standard form. This will be turned into the teacher for review.
