15. Personal Development Planning
A key component of the MSc is to encourage students to utilise personal development planning (PDP) throughout the degree and to then continue it throughout their professional life. This will allow students to focus on strengths and weakness and develop goals/ targets to meet any identified needs. If PDP is already being utilised by a student it is not intended to ask them to use something different. However for those students not utilising PDP the University has produced some excellent documentation in this are as well as identifying some key links to additional PDP resources:
http://www.uclan.ac.uk/ldu/resources/pdp/staff.htm
The personal tutor will play a key role in helping facilitate this process. Students will be encouraged to identify their own learning style preferences and utilises appropriate strategies to develop their preferred and alternative styles. Students will be aided in this process by completing a Honey & Momford learning styles questionnaire at the start of the course, as part of the induction process.
