Subject: Spanish I Grade level: 9-10

Spanish 3

------

Essential understanding: There is more to language than grammatical rules and expressions. Language creates culture as culture creates language. In this unit, you will explore the history of Spanish in America. In doing so, you will look deeply at abstract nouns, use them in your own writing and analyze their use in the cultural perspectives, traditions and holidays of Spanish Speaking countries. As you explore the past, you will also learn the connection between the present, preterit perfect an imperfect

Artist Frida Khalo

Language is the blood of the soul into which thoughts run and out of which they grow.
‒Oliver Wendell Holmes

Overview: This month you will continue to develop your writing while focusing on the change in tenses (Past and present). You will have an opportunity to use and play with abstract nouns as you focus on syntax. Be prepared to read out- loud more and take on a short novel/ story to discuss and write about.
