‘Independent Livin’ On Tulsa Time – Honoring the Past & Celebrating the Future!”

This year, APRIL heads back to the “Mid-West” in Tulsa, Oklahoma where the motto is taken from an oldie but goodie tune: “IL: Livin’ on Tulsa Time - Honoring the Past & Celebrating the Future”. We are seeking proposals for workshops that highlight what “living in rural America” is all about. In particular we extend an invitation to those who target un-served and underserved groups who have valuable insights and information to share with their peers in rural independent living. We invite you – our most valued partners, to join us by presenting successful strategies, innovative ideas and programs that highlight being in your own home, in your community.

Topic areas on our critical list include:

  • Transportation
/
  • Peer Support

  • Deinstitutionalization
/
  • Youth

  • Rural Policy
/
  • IL History and Philosophy

  • Rural Housing
/
  • Access to Rural Health

Take this opportunity to present your good works and successful ideas to your colleagues in the rural IL community.

Every year, participants tell us they WANTMOREHANDOUTS – please consider bringing them with you, especially to supplement power point presentations. PRESENTERSMUST(this cannot be stressed enough) bring materials in alternative formats! You will not be permitted to hand out any materials during your session if alternate formats are not available. Putting everything on disc is NOT sufficient. Be sure to bring a few copies in large print, in Braille and on disc. You may also provide a sign up sheet for distribution after the fact if need be.

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide any stipends for travel expenses. Also, due to the ever increasing costs of audiovisual equipment, ONLY a screen and microphones in each of the meeting rooms. ALL other AV needs (including projectors, computers, power cords, overheads, etc.) will be the responsibility of the presenter, working directly with the hotel.

Deadline for SUBMISSION IS: June21, 2013
