PURPOSE OF THE POST

To ensure the Nuthall Road Premises are regularly kept in a tidy and clean condition, including toilets and hoovering on both floors.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Daily/Weekly

To ensure there is an adequate and clean supply of all colour coded dusters, mops, etc. in order to carry out the following duties:

  1. To Hoover carpets in all areas, including the lobby and entrance hall daily and the first floor, once a week
  2. To Dust and polish the flat surfaces and shelves, etc. and use anti-bac where appropriate.
  3. All toilet areas are cleaned, daily, sanitary units, seats and handles, basins, cubicle doors, walls wiped, floors mopped and toilet paper and paper towels are replenished on a daily basis
  4. Put used cloths in laundry bin for washing each day
  5. Empty all rubbish from waste bins. Ensure disposal bags are tied off safely and put into appropriate waste disposal bin.
  6. Hoover chairs and curtains on a weekly basis
  7. To advise your line manager when cleaning supplies are running low and need re-ordering and to advise of any faulty equipment or maintenance repairs required.

Monthly

  1. Wash all skirting boards, dado rails and window ledges.
  2. Wash all internal glass/mirrors and paintwork if accessible.
  3. Any other ad hoc cleaning duties allocated from time to time, with the proviso that any changes of a permanent nature will be included in the job description.

Provision Of Equipment

You will be supplied with a tabard, aprons and suitable gloves for use whilst undertaking the duties of this post. All protective clothing provided should be worn at all times.

Health And Safety

  1. Wear sensible shoes at all times when undertaking the duties of this post ensuring that shoes do not have open toes or have heels.
  2. Report immediately and any Health and Safety issues i.e. faulty equipment and hazards etc. encountered to your line manager.
  3. Enter details of any accident/near miss/hazard you or a colleague may have whilst about your duties in the Accident Book

Your Needs

  • You will keep under review your own developmental needs, keep yourself informed of current issues and be alert to the Age UK Notts training programmes and policies and attend all supervision meetings advised by your line manager. It is your responsibility along with your line manager to identify training and development needs and to inform your line manager of these.

  • You will exercise proper care in handling, operating and safeguarding any equipment or appliance provided, used or issued by Age UK Notts or provided by a third party for individual or collective use in the performance of your duties.

Safeguarding

  • You will raise any concerns regarding safeguarding and report all allegations of abuse in line with the Age UK Notts Safeguarding policy.

Customer Care

  • You will promote and deliver services in a way which is sensitive and responsive to those receiving such services and be aware of and implement the Age UK Notts customer care policies and service level agreement requirements (if applicable).

Professional Integrity

  • You will maintain at all times the professional integrity of the Charity and represent its main interests in any dealings with other bodies, groups and individuals.

Quality Assurance

  • You will uphold and proactively contribute to the Age UK Notts Quality and Environmental Standards frameworks including ISO 9001 and ISO 14001and the Age UK Organisational Quality Standard.

Other

  • participate in, and promote fundraising & income generation
  • promote all Age UK Notts services and trading products
  • You will attend staff meetings, the annual staff conference and other meetings as requested in order to keep up to date with information within the Charity
  • You will provide for your line manager, weekly diary sheets and any other reports or information as required.
  • You will carry out any other specified tasks that may be reasonably required by the relevant Manager, with the proviso that any changes of a permanent nature will be included in the job description.

Salary: £15,873 per annum FTE (AUNN living wage)

Start Date:As soon as possible

Hours of Work:9 hours per week, over 5 days

Age UK Notts consider a full-time working week to be 37 hours, Monday to Thursday 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. and 9.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Friday with 30 minutes for lunch (which is unpaid). Age UK Notts operates a scheme of flexible working hours.

Holidays:24 working days (pro rated for part time hours). Employees are granted 8 Public Holidays. One additional days leave is added to the annual leave entitlement for each year of service up to a maximum of 8 additional days.

Mileage

Allowance: Currently 45p per mile.

Pension:The Charity will contribute 4% of basic salary into our NEST pension scheme after 3 months service with a phased employee minimum contribution rising to a maximum of 1.6% from 1st October 2018 (in line with auto-enrolment rules). However employees may contribute more than the minimum required employee contribution.

Place of Work:Sybil Levin Centre, Nuthall Road, Nottingham. (Although your job will primarily be based at these offices the Board of Trustees reserves the right to move individuals from time to time to other bases in consultation with the job holder).
