Professional Experience

2007 to date Working as fire fighter for Tazama Petroleum Products limited, a subsidiary of Tazama Pipe lines limited.

Main duties include:

  • Reinforcing fire prevention practices during handling of petroleum products
  • Conducting petroleum tanker safety inspection before being admitted for uplifts of fuel products
  • Rendering special services that promotes safety and health

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out fire fighting equipment audits
  • Ensuring that all risky areas in the fuel terminal are adequately covered with serviceable fire fighting equipment at all times
  • Carrying out job hazard analysis before complex tasks are carried out in the terminal and reinforcing of adherence to safety permits requirements and guide lines
  • Promoting good housekeeping for accident prevention purposes
  • Safe treatment and disposal of hydrocarbon generated waste in line with Zambia Environmental Management Agency Licensing requirements
  • Conducting training of new employee and contractors on safety and health related issues

SAFETY CORDINATOR

Worked as safety coordinator for Belgravia Services Limited, the contractor contracted by the Ministry of Energy and Water Development to upgrade the Loading infrastructure and rehabilitate the storage facility at Ndola Fuel Terminal. The project covered heavy hot works, Lifting operations, civil works and confined space operations.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinated safety and health issues between the client and the contractor
  • Promoted safe working practices for accident prevention through tool box talks
  • Carried job hazard analysis and risk assessments for all highly complex tasks
  • Ensured that all works were carried out in line with prescribed safety permit conditions

2000 to 2006 Worked for Kapiri Fire Brigade as a fireman.

The main duties included:

  • Fire prevention and protection inspections of residential and commercialproperties
  • Carrying out basic fire fighting training to building occupants
  • Rendering humanitarian services
  • First aid training
  • Road Traffic Accidents
