Job Purpose: We are looking for casual Personal Assistants to support the Building Bridges Project.

Salary: The Building Bridges Project pay an hourly rate of £8 per hour.

Main responsibilities:

The Building Bridges Project works with a wide range of young people with a wide range of needs and goals.

The responsibilities listed below will not apply to every young person that you may work with, and in some cases some will be more pertinent than others.

The Project Worker linked with the young person you are working with can go through this list with you to look at those that apply to the individual.

·  Provide support and encouragement to explore new social opportunities

·  Provide support to identify and explore suitable educational, voluntary and/or paid work opportunities

·  Job Coaching

·  Provide support to access local community resources and leisure activities and to make and establish links in the community

·  Assistance with getting to and from various activities and appointments

·  Promote independence and provide support to gain as much independence as possible through travel training and familiarisation of local bus/train routes

·  Provide support to develop road safety skills, money handling skills and independent living skills outside of the home

·  Keep the individual safe and away from harm using behaviour management plan or medical plans where appropriate

·  Agree with family or young person how to communicate about arranging activities or sessions. Keep in regular contact as required

·  Where appropriate, explore meeting up with other PAs and young people to encourage social networks and friendships locally

·  Plan ahead (as far as possible) to identify potential triggers to behaviour to prevent negative situations from arising
