Lemon BreadFrench Toast with Smoked Salmon and Maple Syrup

Ingredients:

5 cups bread flour 1/2 cup sugar

1-1/2 tsp salt 1 tbsp active dry yeast

1 small lemon, grated and juiced 1/2 cup milk

1/2 cup water 1/4 cup butter, soft

2 eggs 1/2 cup confectioner’s sugar

Water

Cook Time: 35minutes

Total Preparation Time: 2hours, 35minutes

Preparation:

Mix together 1 cup flour, sugar, salt, and yeast in a large bowl.Add the grated peel and juice from one small lemon.Mix in milk, water, butter, and eggs.Mix in enough remaining flour to make a soft dough.Turn dough out onto lightly floured board and knead for about 8 minutes.Put dough in greased bowl and turn dough over so that it is lightly greased on top. Cover and let rise for 45 minutes or until double in size.Punch down dough and knead on floured board for 5 minutes.Divide dough into 3 equal parts.Roll each part into a long, 24 inch strip.Braid the three strips together. Bring ends together and pinch closed so that a braided circle is formed.Place ring on greased baking sheet. Cover and let rise for about 30 minutes.Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 35 minutes or until done.Then remove braid from baking sheet. Mix together confectioner’s sugar and enough water to make icing. Ice braided loaf while still warm.Let braid cool and icing set before serving. Enjoy!

French Toast with Smoked Salmon and Maple Syrup (on Lemon Bread)

Ingredients:

10 Thin Slices of Smoked Salmon4 Eggs

1 Teaspoon of Sugar (optional)Dash of Salt

1 Cup of Milk 10 - 12 Slices of Lemon Bread

Spy Glass Butter Canadian Maple Syrup

Preparation:

Break the eggs into a wide, shallow bowl or pie plate and beat lightly with a fork. Stir in sugar, salt, and milk. Over medium-low heat, heat griddle or skillet coated with a thin layer of Spy Glass Butter. Place the bread slices, one at a time, into the bowl or plate, letting slices soak up egg mixture for a few seconds, then carefully turn to coat the other side. Soak/coat only as many slices as you will be cooking at one time. Transfer bread slices to griddle or skillet, heating slowly until bottom is golden brown. Turn and brown the other side. Serve Lemon Bread French toast hot Topped with Rosettes of Smoked Salmon and drizzled with Canadian Maple Syrup. Recipe for French toast serves 4. Enjoy!
