6:10 GAME: Clean up!Equipment –scrunched up newspaper

Scatter newspaper throughout the hall...... Have a central hoop with a Joey or leader standing inside.....Joeys must run to gather as much paper as possible and place in the hoop, the person in the hoop needs to throw the paper out as quickly as possible. Swap Joey inside.

6:15: GAME: News paper Race

Equipment:1 newspaper

Method: Each Joey Scout is provided with 2 sheets of newspaper which they use to run the race. They can only step on the newspapers. This is done by stepping on one piece. Lay the other in front adjoining themselves then stepping on it. Retrieving the first piece of paper from behind which they now place in front of themselves and step on. Moving forward in this fashion. First one to reach the finish line is the winner.

Make bugs from recyclable materials. Gather some materials together (eg

newspaper, string, straws, bottle tops), making sure they are clean, plus tacky

glue or a low temperature glue gun. To make a body you can crumple up a sheet

6:50:GAME: WHAT TO DO? Joeys seated in circle. Spin a bottle. When the bottle points to a Joey that Joey chooses an item of rubbish from a collection and decides whether to put in the recycling bin, rubbish bin, compost or reuse box.

Spare Game: Rob the Nest

Joeys into four teams, one in each corner of the playing area. Each Joey screw up a piece of newspaper into an “egg” and places in the middle of the area.

Each team also needs a ‘nest’. The teams start collecting eggs from the centre supply. The Joeys take it in turn, taking only one egg at a time and placing

it in their nest. Then the next Joey in the team does the same. When the centre supply has run out the Joeys then steal eggs from any of the other teams’ nests, continuing in a relay fashion until time is called. The team with the most eggs is

the winner
