About the Kidsight Program

This year's special project is the Lions Kidsight program in Chester and BerksCounties. Kidsight is an established Lions Club program that provides initial eye screening for children ages three through six. 1 in 20 children has an undetected vision problem that could turn into amblyopia (permanent vision loss) if left untreated. Through the Kidsight program, our goal is to prevent vision loss through early detection and treatment of the most common vision problems that can lead to amblyopia. Using the equipment purchased through this program, Lions volunteers conduct free vision screening tests at preschools and other childhood centers. The tests look for nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism and amblyopia (lazy eye. In our program, the child's hearing is also tested. If any anomalies are found, the child is referred to an appropriate eye or ear care professional. The equipment for the program is expensive, and our club has taken on the mission of raising the money to purchase the most accurate equipment to help the most children.

How you can help!

We generally have one major fundraiser per year that allows us to carry out these activities, as well as to meet other community needs as we identify them. Our major fund raiser is the Chester County Blues Barbeque. If you would like to become one of our sponsors, please see a Lion at the concession stand for a sponsorship form and return it by May 27 to any one of our members, or contact Terry Stouffer at (610) 495-7275 (e-mail ) or Ray Bentley at (610) 286-9082 (e-mail .

We appreciate your generosity and support. And don’t forget that we are always looking for new members who share our spirit of service to community.
