Definition:

PuppyConfined to puppies aged between 6 and 18 months of age on the day of the
test.

Unclassified Novice Dog/ Handler

For dogs over 18 months and handlers who have never been placed in a working test or won a NDNH (Sp Beg & puppies accepted). Dogs entered in this test cannot be entered in any other test.

NoviceConfined to dogs which have not gained an award or Certificate of Merit at a field trial, been placed first, second or third in an open Gundog Working Test or first in a Novice Gundog Working Test held in accordance with KC regulations.

OpenOpen to dogs of Open standard, able to hunt and retrieve fur or feather over

land and over water.

Complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided, however please bring your own lunch.

PLEASE BRING 2 x 1lb CANVAS DUMMIES.

Entry Fees:Members £8.00; Non-Members £10.00 per dog.

Raffle:There will be a raffle on the day. Any unwanted gifts or donations will be gratefully received.

  • No caged game will be used; cold game may be used in the Open Test.
  • Entries for the tests can only be accepted from dogs registered at the Kennel Club in the HPR Gundog Group (J1a, 6a (1) & B 20).
  • All dogs must be kept on a lead and under close control except whilst competing. No bitches in season to be brought to the ground.
  • Neither the owner of the ground or HVC accepts any responsibility for injury, damage or loss to dog, person or property of competitors or spectators.
  • Spectators and competitors must consider themselves under the control of stewards at all times.
  • Entries will not be accepted from dogs less than 6 months of age.
  • Judges may be altered as necessary; the judge’s decision is final.
  • Please DO NOT pick up after your dog. Take home “ALL” rubbish.
  • No person shall carry out punitive correction or harsh handling during the Working Test. Any exhibitor who does so will be escorted off the ground.

Directions to Ashdown Forest, East Sussex

  • The venue is at land west of B2188 Ashdown Forest, East Sussex.
  • South on M23, come off at J10 and left onto A264 signed East Grinstead.
  • Follow this road until you come to a T junction with traffic lights on outskirts of East Grinstead.
  • Turn right at these lights onto A22 (which is a continuation of A264). In 300 to 400 yards you come to roundabout, go straight over.
  • About 150 yards you come to a mini roundabout with Fire Station on the left. Another 150 yards (approx.) take first left which takes you back onto A264. Signed Tunbridge Wells.
  • Follow A264 for about 4 miles. You come to Holtye (golf course on left).
  • About 1 mile out of Holtye turn right onto B2026 (opposite Caravan Sales site), follow B2026 to
    T junction at Hartfield village. Turn right at this T junction and go through village.
  • At far end of village turn left (still on B2026). Follow this road with trees either side and when it opens out to moorland look for the first left B2188. Go down this road about a mile until you come to some houses on right (signed Friar's Gate) a road comes in from your right at this point.
  • About 50-80 yards on left after this road turn left onto a rough forest track (if you see a pub on your right -you've missed the turn).
  • Follow track and take left fork. At house with speed bump turn left just after the bump up a rougher track. Go straight on for a couple of hundred yards to venue.
