Honors Annual Awards

2014-2015Directions

Every year, Honors recognizes students who have achieved in our value areas. Up to 5 awards are given in each of the 7 categories. Students may apply for this award or nominate other students for their achievements. We give awards in each of the following categories:

  • Outstanding Academic/Professional Accomplishments
  • Outstanding Service and Community Engagement
  • Outstanding Commitment to Global Citizenship and Cultural Exploration
  • Outstanding Leadership
  • Outstanding Commitment to Personal Excellence
  • Outstanding Commitment to the Civic, Humane, and Environmental Mission of FGCU
  • Outstanding Contribution to Building the Honors Community

If you would like to nominate one of your peers, please return the peer nomination page of this application to Reed Hall 155 by no later than Monday, March 23th.

Students selected for this award who are 1) not on a Gold Scholarship, Valedictorian/Salutatorian, or on full scholarship and 2) returning to FGCU during the 2015-2016 year will receive scholarships for next year.

Students receiving awards in two categories in their time at FGCU will be recognized with the Honors Silver Eagle Award. Students receiving awards in three or more categories in their time at FGCU will be recognized with the Honors Golden Eagle Award.

All applicants must have a GPA of 3.3 or higher to be eligible for an award. Recognized accomplishments must have occurred between March 1, 2014 and the present.

Please provide the following supporting materials:

  • A 200-word bio, written in the third person that outlines your accomplishments in the area in which you nominated yourself. Please only discuss accomplishments that occurred between March 1st of 2014 and the present. This should be 12-font, single-spaced. We are especially interested in anything that you accomplished that makes you stand out from other students at FGCU. If your accomplishment impacted others, you should certainly include that. Any concrete outcomes from the your academic accomplishment (publications, research talks, awards, money raised, etc.) are especially important
  • A resume
  • A 100 word description of the relationship between that accomplishment and your experience as an Honors student at FGCU. How does it relate to your experience as an honors student?
