February Action Packed Vacation Week 2016

This action packed week is fun and educational. Study the season, learn how fauna adapt, discover how to comfortably play outside in the winter, and learn how you can become a protector of local wildlife!

Programs are offered free of charge and are open to the public. Be ready for chilly weather and a breeze. Bring binoculars if you have them. Children must be accompanied by adults. There is no need to register for these programs unless you plan on bringing a group larger than 5 persons. Did you know that the moon snail uses its radula (a tongue-like rasping organ) to bore a small hole in a clam shell and then sucks out the flesh of its victim ? Join us to learn about the fascinating lives of animals of the seashore and to discover the new treasures of animal shells that have washed up on the beach. A Winter Wander

Tuesday, February 16th 3:00-4:00 p.m.

This is a two-mile Dog-Friendly walk for an hour along one of DCR’s healthy heart trails and includes brief stops for entertaining history lessons about Nahant Beach. Join us as we explore the trails of the Marsh searching for signs of the many wild creatures that are active during the winter. Learn how animals are adapted to survive outside during the chilly and challenging winter season and how you can become a protector of local wildlife.
