Managing /Coordinating Director of Business Development
CBDCLong Range, in collaboration with the Town of Stephenville’s Economic Development Committee are now seeking a Managing/Coordinating Director of Business Development to provide service and support to businesses looking to expand, relocate or establish in Town of Stephenville.
Reporting to the Chair of the Economic Development Committee, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following activities:
- Assist with the development of a strategic plan for the town that identifies key growth sectors and recommend strategies to address the demographic challenges facing Stephenville and Bay St. George.
- Working with the Economic Development Committee to develop a marketing strategy to attract businesses, tourists and new residents.
- Develop networking with existing funding partners and prepare written proposals for funding consideration on key sectors for growing the town.
- Provide management and coordination for project implementation that fits the economic development plan.
- Be able to prioritize work schedule to effectively deal with all issues and challenges of implementing the development plan.
- Other work related duties.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must have appropriate academic credentials in business, economics or public administration combined with several years of experience in business development, economic development and social development. The person should have a solid track record working effectively with stakeholders groups such as business community, elected officials, other levels of government, staff, and the community at large. The successful candidate should be familiar with various government funding programs and a proven track record for writing proposals. An understanding of the many challenges facing rural communities and expertise in strategic planning, policy development and project management is an asset. Personally, the successful candidate should have well-developed qualities including relationship building, teamwork, communications, planning and trouble shooting. Information technology utilization and computer related skills a must.
This is an annual contractual position and the renewal of the contract depends on performance evaluation. The salary range is $65,000- $75,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
