Position:Event & Community Fundraising Coordinator

Hours & Salary:Negotiable according to availability and experience

Accountable to:Support Services Manager/Trustees

In Association with:Support Staff and Volunteers

Base:Support Staff are based at our Alnwick centre, but there would be a requirement to visit our Berwick centre and travel throughout North Northumberland

2. AIM

To deliver agreed budgets, targets and income through developing andorganising a programme of successful hospice-led events and developing and sustaining relationships with those in the wider community who will fundraise on behalf of HospiceCare

3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Communication and relationships

Build and maintain good communication and relationships with all HospiceCare staff and volunteers

Communicate sensitively with patients if required

Hospice-led events

Build on the existing annual programme of fundraising events, thinking creatively to develop innovative ideas and new opportunities.

Prepare and agree event budgets and annual programme with Support Services Manager

Work closely with Volunteer Coordinator and HospiceCare volunteers to plan and deliver events efficiently and profitably

Review all event income and expenditure against budgets

Maintain detailed records of events including relevant volunteer feedback in the interests of continuity

Community Fundraising

Develop ways of recognising and encouraging those who already fundraise on our behalf

Actively recruit and motivate local supporter fundraising groups from within and beyond our existing volunteer and supporter base, offering appropriate advice, resources and recognition

Identify and develop fundraising opportunities throughout North Northumberland with formal local groups and associations, eg clubs, schools, workplaces

Marketing/PR

Keep abreast of developments in the clinical services looking for stories and information to present to supporters/general public

Maintain HospiceCare branding in all external communications

Seek out and exploit all appropriate means of marketing events and raising awareness of HospiceCareservices

Promote and oversee programme of HospiceCare Talks/Presentations to local groups, participating as required

Produce regular newsletterfor supporters and interested parties

General

Have flexibility to work on own initiative as well as with other team members and volunteers. There will be a requirement to work with volunteers, including delegating and supervising tasks and managing their time.

Take responsibility for all administration associated with key tasks – letters, sponsor forms, posters, phone calls etc - closely supervising any tasks delegated to admin staff or volunteers

Maintain and assist in development of relevant areas of HospiceCare contact database

Be aware of and comply with all relevant legal requirements relating to fundraising, volunteers, charity accounting, health and safety etc

Produce reports as required to SSM and Trustees

Attend staff meetings and training as required

Look out for new income streams the Hospice might explore, within the scope of available resources

Recommend to Support Services Manager possible improvements to policies and procedures within the Support Services Team

Maintain confidentiality of all personal information

4. PERSON SPECIFICATION

Excellent inter-personal skills to build relationshipswith a wide range of people in a variety of situations

An experienced organiser – proven track record of delivering profitable events

A passionate communicator – relevant experience in sales or marketing or charity communications

A committed team-player – able to give a strong lead, but also to value and encourage the skills and insights of others, exercising discretion as to the degree of responsibility they are willing/able to accept

An inspiring motivator – able to communicate effectively and enthusiastically so as to draw others into the HospiceCare cause

Demonstrably literate, numerate and experienced in using Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher

Ability to manage own time effectively and prioritise own workload

Ability to work to deadlines and set and meet targets

Willingness to work outside normal agreed hours when required, in accordance with HospiceCare procedures for lieu time

Full UK driving license, willing to travel throughout North Northumberland using own vehicle

Willingness to train and learn new skills

Post subject to enhanced CRB and health checks
