MEETING MINUTES
August 7, 2017
This meeting was called to order by Mayor Allan Lowe at 6:15 p.m.
PRESENT: Mayor Allan Lowe, Mayor Pro Tem Andy O’Riley Council Members: Melissa Klos,
Mirelda Sanchez Tokarczyk, Amber Weerstra and Kevin Wisniewski
ABSENT: None
STAFF: City Manager Jared Olson, City Attorney Matt Mills, City Treasurer Sarah Petersen,
City Clerk Amy VanderLeest and DPW Superintendent David Geyer
WORK SESSION
Council conducted interviews with the two (2) candidates interested in filling the Council vacancy. Council interviewed Dawn Noyes and Michael Sutton, asking each a set of specific questions regarding their interest in serving the City of Roosevelt Park.
Council reviewed the Norton Shores quarterly report.
Council reviewed the Roosevelt Park Police Department monthly report.
Mayor Pro Tem O’Riley gave an update of Roosevelt Park ‘Taste of the Trucks’ Day 2017.
Alison Purgiel, Manager of the Norton Shores Branch Public Library, shared upcoming events at the Norton Shores Branch District Library as well as some upcoming local events within the Muskegon Area District Libraries. You can find these events along with additional details at madl.org

Carlos Sanchez, 975 Post Rd., asked about the City Treasurer position.
2017-125 CONSENT AGENDA
Council Member Wisniewski moved to approve the Consent Agenda with the review on the list of bills item #35181 prior to payment of invoice # 9584400. This motion was supported by Mayor Pro Tem O’Riley and carried.

8A. City Council Vacancy Appointment
Mayor Pro Tem O’Riley moved to approve the appointment of Michael Sutton to fill the Council vacancy for the remainder of the term ending November 2017. This motion was supported by Council Member Weerstra and carried.

8B. Appointment of Interim Treasurer
Council Member Klos moved to approve the appointment of City Clerk Amy VanderLeest as Interim Treasurer and authorize a wage increase of $1,000 per month as compensation for the increase in responsibilities and work load for the period she serves as the Interim Treasurer. This motion was supported by Council Member Weerstra and carried.

8C. Sherman Blvd Property Purchase Agreement
Mayor Pro Tem O’Riley moved to approve the purchase price of $70,000 for the 1.48 acre parcel of City owned property located on Sherman Blvd to Lake Michigan Credit Union and authorize the Mayor, City Clerk and City Manager to execute all related documents to the sale of the parcel after review by the City Attorney. This motion was supported by Council Member Klos and carried.

8D. MML Convention Voting Delegate
Council Member Klos moved to designate Mayor Allan Lowe as the official voting delegate for the City of Roosevelt Park for the 2017 MML Annual Meeting which will be held in September at the MML Convention in Holland. This motion was supported by Mayor Pro Tem O’Riley and carried.

Bob Heaton, 902 Woodside Rd, shared comments on the Council vacancy appointment.
Cindy Maynard, 3037 Roosevelt Rd, shared comments regarding a dog park within the
City.
Melissa Hart, Maple Grove Rd, stated that she has started a walking group for the City.
Michael Sutton, 962 Woodside Rd, thanked the Council for his appointment to fill the
Council vacancy.

Council Member Weerstra moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:24 p.m. This motion was supported by Council Member Klos and carried unanimously.
