H.C.R. No. 75

HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives and Senate are proud to welcome the visiting senior class of Redwater High School and honor them for their 100 percent participation in the Dads Against Drugs in Schools (DADS) program; and

WHEREAS, These exemplary leaders of tomorrow voluntarily submitted to drug testing as part of the DADS initiative, and their enthusiastic commitment to securing the involvement of the entire class puts them at the forefront of the national crusade against drug use; and

WHEREAS, Designed to awaken young people to the dangerous influence of drugs, the DADS program is the brainchild of five Redwater fathers: Harold Ayres, William Estes, Ward Martaindale, volunteer coordinator Carl Teel, and Superintendent Joe Dan Lee; in implementing the program, these dedicated volunteers also drew on the experience and leadership of principals DiAnn Bransford, Carlos McGregor, and Mickey Spencer; and

WHEREAS, While the initial impetus for the project came from parents and educators, it could not have been implemented without the full cooperation and support of the senior class: Latasha Alexander, Cheryl Ayres, Timothy Bartholomew, Kristi Brown, Erin Burke, Sharon Burleson, Mary Bush, Andrew Clemmons, Mary Collom, Shelly Corbell, Kelly Corley, Kristi Couch, Kristy Crowder, Angela Cunningham, Tonia Davenport, Chantel Davis, Stephanie Davis, Alicia Delaughter, Brandy Donaldson, Jason Fisher, Jennifer Goss, Amy Graves, Stephen Hensley, Sarah Hicks, April Higgs, Scott Holliday, Aaron Howe, Derek Jester, Travis Jones, Albertina Josey, James Knight, Kelly Langley, Brady Leathers, Donny Lee, Lacey Lewis, Lindy Lynch, Nicholas Moore, Dustin Odom, Randi Parker, Bruce Pilgreen, Paul Quaid, Allison Reynolds, Amanda Rhoden, Clint Roberts, Courtney Roberts, Suzanne Robertson, James Robinson, Kelly Roy, Jason Rutherford, Heather Schwarck, Porsha Shavers, Shauntell Shirley, Angela Smith, William Stephenson, Lisa Steward, Jeremy Tedder, Wade Walker, Jason Weatherford, Amanda Wensits, Tracy Wharton, Patty White, Kimberly Whitehead, April Williams, and Shania Williamson; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Redwater High School Class of 1997 have ably demonstrated their willingness to work with their teachers and parents for the good of the greater community, and it is indeed fitting that these notable young Texans be recognized for their efforts at this time; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the 75th Legislature of the State of Texas hereby commend the members of the 1997 senior class of Redwater High School for their participation in the Dads Against Drugs in Schools program and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness in the future; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for display at Redwater High School as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
