The Spark is seeking to appoint Sessional Trainers to deliver its group education and training programmes. You should have experience delivering training to the respective age group, which includes:

  • Primary school pupils – P5 - P7
  • Secondary school pupils S1-S6
  • Adults in the community
  • Professionals in the workplace

Please indicate on your application which age group you are applying to work with – Children, Adults or Both. You must also be able to demonstrate your ability to perform the role in a professional, ethical and quality driven manner.

As an engaging and intuitive Trainer, youwill possess the skills to deliver The Spark’sinnovative education and trainingprogrammes, and be responsive to the needs of participants and groups.

Training Delivery

  • Prepare and deliver programme
  • Source additional resources/examples for specific groups
  • Build positive relationships with individuals, groups and organisations
  • Contribute effectively to development and evaluation of programmes
  • Have a flexible attitude to different models of trainingdelivery
  • Develop collaborative working relationship with Coordinators, fellow Trainers and Directors.

Organisational

  • Accurately record information and maintain up to date records
  • Develop and adhere to organisational policies and procedures
  • Attend and contribute to team meetings, and help build and maintain healthy working relationships within the team

Maintain a flexibility of job function in response to the evolving demands of the organisation and undertake other duties as may be required.

Person Specification

AREA / ESSENTIAL / DESIRABLE
Education/ Training / COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills or equivalent / Training qualification
SMHFA accredited training qualification
COSCA accredited training qualification
Experience / 2+ years’ experience of facilitating training to Children/Young People and/or Adults / Experience of delivering training/group work to multi-disciplinary groups
Knowledge / Understanding of differing learning styles and the learning cycle
Understanding of The Spark services / Knowledge of attachment and relational theories
Skills & Abilities / Excellent presentation and facilitation skills
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Competent IT skills
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships both internally and externally
Creative and dynamic problem solver
Effective Influencer
