THE

MESSAGE

Birth-Centenary Edition

VOLUME – IX

Sri Sri Thakur Anukulchandra

contains: Definition, Universal Law and Miscellaneous

INTRODUCTION

The ninth volume of 'The Message' comprises Sri Sri Thakur's dictations classified under the heads of Definition, Universal Law and Miscellaneous.

Definitions represent the connotation, quint-essence and implication of terms and words. They afford us an insight into the essence of concepts and help us in forming a definite, precise, correct and clear idea about them, avoiding error and confusion arising out of a thousand and one forms of unwarranted interpretation of words, which is so common today. Sri Sri Thakur’s definitions of Dharma, religion, libido, spirit, spiritualism, adhyatmika, instinct, Aryan culture, varna, law, justice, surrender, fellow-feeling, common-sense, chance, penance, diplomacy, culture etc. throws a flood of new light on those things and reveal his way of thinking which is the outcome of his direct perception of fact and realisty as they are in themselves. It may not be irrelevant to mention here that he lays great stress on root-meanings of words. And for an intelligent grasp of Sri Sri Thakur's literature, readers are requested to refer to roots of words.

Universal law presupposes that there is nothing uncaused in this world. The law of causation operates inviolably, invariably and unalterably in all spheres of matter, mind, life and spirit. A given set of circumstances, conditions and causal factors is sure to produce its appropriate effect in due course. This process is ceaselessly and inexorably at work in both nature and the human domain. Our habits, thoughts, actions, attitude, outlook, character and conduct determine our destiny. We are happy or miserable, prosperous or penury-stricken due to our own actions. We are made or marred by them and them alone. In this chapter Sri Sri Thakur describe the nature and character of various themes, things and phenomena e.g. advent of God, law and Providence, justice of nature, the law of life, ignorance, whims, free will, equality, variety and variation, distinctiveness, karma, vice and sin, service, efficiency, fortune, selfishness, misfortune, flattery, success, bribed acquisition, disagreeable situation, bifurcated love, concentric love etc, and their normal action and influence on individual and social life.

The analytical delineations depict the consequences of obedience to right principles and deviation from them in a graphic manner and open our eyes to truth. We are led to the irresistible conclusion that laws of life and growth cannot be transgressed with impunity. Moreover we are encouraged to follow the path of rectitude as that is sure to stand us in good stead in both our material and moral life.

The 'miscellaneous' chapter, as the very name indicates, deals with various topics not coming within the purview of the classification mode by us. It includes some messages given by Sri Sri Thakur on different occasions. Some recent dictations, which were had after the publication of several volumes of 'The Message' and which deserve to be grouped under heads published therein, have also been placed in this chapter. This has been done with a view to avoiding unnecessary delay in their publication.

Now, on the eve of the publication of the present volume we think it proper to present before readers the significant remark of Sri Sri Thakur with regard to his own sayings which might be considered to be so many answers to the quest of seekers—

"I have answered

to thy quest

what I see, what I think

and what I know

to be beneficial to our life and growth

with every blazing outspoken reply

as far as I conceive."

In fact, all utterances of Sri Sri Thakur are based on the solid foundation of his firsthand personal experience and realization and as such these unembellished naked expressions of truth go straight into the heart of people and set them athinking. The sayings are highly charged with the vibrant spirit of his own soul that constantly pants for the all round welfare and wellbeing of every being that exists. That is why they are so effective in quickening and kindling a keen genuine desire in man for acquiring concentric self-adjustment which is the sole supreme source of all blessings in life.

Let us read and re-read these books and live and exemplify the magnificent truths embedded therein. Only thus we can fulfill the great mission of human life and achieve the grand and glorious goal, destined for humanity. Bande Purushottamam (Adorations to Fulfiller the Best).
