What are the requirements for my degree?

You need to complete 400cp of units, consisting of a core:- a Critical Practices reverse major (100cp);a Studio major (125cp);breadth units (25cp); degree electives (25cp);andstudent electives (25cp); and Honours (100cp).Most units are weighted at 12.5cp (ie 1 unit), but there are some weighted at 25cp (i.e.equiv of 2 units). Over Years 1, 2 and 3 when choosing the breadth units, degree and student electives, you need to ensure your choice of units are within the unit level requirement below:

Introductorylevel: a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 10 units (100 coded e.g. FSA121)

Intermediate level: a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 10 units (200 coded e.g. FSA221)

Advanced level: a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 10 units (300 coded e.g. FSX312)

A fulltime student might enrolled in 100cp of introductory units in year 1; 100cp of intermediate units in year 2; and 100cp of advanced units in year 3. There is flexibility in when you take your breadth units, degree electives, student electives subject to prerequisites being met.

A part-time student might commence with 50cp of introductory units; and after then may complete the remaining 50cp of introductory units or may choose to progress with intermediate level units depending on what introductory units have been passed. Part-time students may find themselves enrolled in a combination of introductory/ intermediate/advanced level as they progress

What are breadth units, degree and student electives?

Degree electives are additional fine art units.

Student electives are your choice of individual units within the University subject to meeting any requisites (i.e. prerequisites, corequisites and anti-requisites) and quotas. These may also include additional fine art units – it is your choice.

Breadth unitshave been designed to provide you with the skills and deep understanding to make a difference in your own life and that of others. The world we live in faces many unavoidable but fascinating challenges.
