BGHS vs. Barren County- BGHS has won 15 games in a row in the series and is 19-2 overall against the Trojans. The two schools began playing in 1980. Barren County has not scored more than 7 points against the Purples since 1998. The Purples won that contest, 39-10 and it was also the last time that BGHS did not score at least 40 points against the Trojans...A win on Friday would be Coach Kevin Wallace’s 250th win at BGHS. Wallace is 249-40 in his 22 season as the Purples head coach
BGHS 49 Grayson County 13- SO RB Vito Tisdale had two carries for 77 yards and two touchdowns. SO RB J’vyan Collins and SR RB Dazhon Blakey also had rushing touchdowns. The Purples scored twice on special teams as SO Evan Spader returned a punt 63 yards for a score and SR OLB Devan Jackson blocked a Cougar punt and returned it 22 yards for a score. The other BGHS score came on JR OLB Miles Smith 8-yard fumble return for a touchdown. BGHS ran only 19 offensive plays in the game which had a running clock before the end of the first quarter.
BGHS Football- BGHS Football began play in 1922. Since that time, the Purples have amassed a record of 689-333-35, which places them eighth in all-time wins in Kentucky.. The Purples are tied for 9th in state championships (6), are among only 12 schools in state history that have won three consecutive championships, and their 48-game win streak (2011-14) is the second longest in state history. Since 2011, BGHS is 89-5 (.945). In the 26 seasons since 1990, BGHS and Highlands are the only two Kentucky schools to win more than 85% of their games. JV/Freshman Football- JV - The JV team was canceled on Monday. The FR team is 5-1 and hosts John Hardin on Thursday.
Coach Wallace: Kevin Wallace now in 12th spot on the career KHSAA football wins list. Currently, only ten coaches have secured 300 career KHSAA wins. Wallace is now 294-101 (.742) in his career, including a 249-40 (.861) mark at BGHS. Wallace is tied for 10th in KHSAA state championship appearances (8) and and tied for 7th in state championships won (5). Wallace is the only coach in state history that have been a part of three separate winning streaks of over 25 games .
