Job Title: Community Access Support Service (CASS) Communications Officer

Salary£20,513 - £22,497 pro rata per annum

Contract Term22.5 hours per week

Responsible to:CASS Manager

Purpose of the job:

To lead on the production and delivery of materials and campaigns relating to the Community Access Support Service (CASS) and general mental health & emotional wellbeing. Support team, commissioners, providers (including Bristol Mental Health - BMH)and other stakeholders to produce communications that are accessible and appropriate.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for designing, copy writing, sub-editing and the distribution of all CASSmaterials andidentifying other mental health materials (local and national) suitable for distribution locally.
  • Support the development of materials from different mental health services to ensure they are appropriate, and together with CASS and commissioners broker relationships between service providers (includingBMH) and community, equalities, and faith groups (users of CASS) to encourage consultation and co-production of materials.
  • Develop, manage, update and write content for CASS and other related webpages/websites.Support the BMH webpages/website to ensure it provides appropriate and accessible content.
  • Maintain and develop CASS social media accounts, such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube and where necessary develop multi-media resources suitable for social media.
  • Lead the development of local campaigns and promote national campaigns locally, where necessary working in partnership with commissioners, stakeholders and services.
  • Help market and communicate events from Bristol Mental Health, Bristol Anti Stigma Alliance and other relevant stakeholders to community, equality and faith groups
  • Provide creative, editorial and operational support for local communications projects, such as Mental Health Week, World Mental Health Day, Time to Talk Day.
  • Maintain electronic and manual library of press and social media articles, videos, photographs, resources and leaflets to be used as appropriate.
  • Oversee the development and management of a CASS case-study information database for marketing and feedback to Commissioners and providers.
  • Support the CASS team in their communications role e.g. by producing templates, and displaysand ensure the CASS team are well briefed on key communications issues.
  • Organise CASS events and workshops and as necessary ensure evaluations competed and that there are suitable write-ups.
  • Produce regular reports on communications functions of CASS, ensuring that the information produced is both qualitative and quantitative
  • Promote awareness of accessible communications across CASS and BMH and support providers to understand accessibility issues and approaches e.g. Easy English, Plain English, Make It Clear, Language needs, to ensure various communications needs of equalities communities met adequately.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with the communication officers of the other providers within Bristol Mental Health, the commissioners and other stakeholders.
  • Together with the CASS Manager, lead the implementation of the Community Access Support Service Communications Strategy and ensure that Key Performance Indicators for CASS are delivered effectively.

  • To carry out any other duties as may be required and in keeping with the level of the post

  • To participate in training, team meetings and working groups as required
  • To be able to work evenings and weekend as necessary to the role and work flexibly to manage the workload,
  • To support the collection of relevant data for entry onto CASS and HLC database, and to ensure database information is current and accurate
  • To promote health & wellbeing and in particular mental wellbeing
  • To support the Healthy Living Consortium to evaluate the impact of CASS
  • To take up appropriate opportunities for own continued professional development and participate in the HLC appraisal system
  • To be responsible for your own safety and the health and safety of others

1. / Qualifications / English and Maths GCSE or equivalent, grades A*-C
or other Level 2 qualification / Marketing and communications qualification
2. / Experience / Experience of designing, copy writing and producing communication and marketing materialsfor use across different mediums Experience of social media, especially Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and supporting tools such as Hootsuite and Mailchimp
Experience of developing marketing tools and campaigns to engage a range of audiences
Experience of publishing to digital platforms
Experience of working with organisational [EF1]and information resources
Experience in using website content management systems.
Experience of team working
Experience of working with people from diverse backgrounds

Able to communicate with people at all levels
Excellent administrative skills: e.g. keeping a diary system, arranging meetings, booking venues
Able to demonstrate up to date excellent IT skills in word processing, spreadsheet and database packages, specifically Microsoft Outlook / Ability to identify and monitor key trends
Ability to monitor and manage analysis of web statistics
Ability to use MS Access and/or Power BI
