Learning continues as we begin our second quarter at Berryhill. Our students that are in PE grades 1-5 are learning about the heart and using stethoscopes that were received through Donor’s Choose. Students are getting to hear their own heartbeat and see how exercise affects it. Fourth grade is cruising through multiplication and into division. The students are enjoying hands on activities and real world problem solving. We are also buzzing with books, thanks to recent grant funds! Special thanks to Mrs. Commerford to loading our library!And congratulations to the middle school staff and students – Berryhill was chosen to be a CMS Early Adopter School in a 1:1 digital initiative. Grades 6-8 will receive Chromebook computers in late November. There will be a computer for each student to use here at school.
BERRYHILL PARENT AMBASSADORS
The purpose of Berryhill Parent Ambassadors is to enhance the relationship among the school, parents, and the wider community; encourage the community’s investment of resources into Berryhill, and to enrich the educational experiences of our students. We need you to be a part. Our next meeting is Thursday, November 20th at 5:30 in the Media Center. We will be discussing: volunteer opportunities, fund raising needs, leadership opportunities and reviewing future meeting dates. Come join us as we work together to provide the best for our students!
THANKSGIVING FAMILY LUNCHEON
Berryhill’s Annual Thanksgiving Family Luncheon will be November 19th, 2014. We would like to invite every parent to come and have lunch with your child on that day. The cost of the meal will be $4.00 for adults, and $2.05 for non-Berryhill children. Tickets will be for sale in the main hall. You will not be able to pay at the register. The meal price includes the following:
Turkey with Dressing and Gravy, Roll,
Green Beans, Sweet Potato Souffle’ and
Beverage (Tea, Milk, or non-bottled Water)
Desserts will be available for an additional
charge
READ-A-THON KICK-OFF
Please join us on Friday, November 7 at 2:00 for our 1st Annual Berryhill Read-a-Thon. This will kick-off a year-long school-wide reading competition. We will have a “mystery” reader join us for a school-wide read aloud. Shortly after, you may join your child in his or her classroom for more reading fun. Please feel free to bring a book from home to enjoy. The class with the most parents in attendance will win a pizza party. We look forward to seeing you!
SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR
Our fall book fair begins on Friday, November 14th and ends on Friday, November 21st. We will have lots of new interesting books for you to purchase including the latest Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Hard Luck! The book fair will open each day from 7:45 to 8:30 AM. The book fair will also be open during the Thanksgiving luncheon on November 19th. If you wish to volunteer to help during the book fair, please call the school @ 980-343-6100.

With Thanksgiving around the corner what a wonderful time to talk with your child about all the things we can be thankful for. Being thankful involves two parts: “Being” thankful or appreciative and then “Showing” that we are appreciative. Consider asking your child to make a list or share things that people have done for them that they are thankful for and then discuss ways that they can let others know that they appreciate what others have said or done.
