SBA Fall 2015 Election Info

Candidate Statements: Due 5pm Fri., September 4th, 2015

The statement should be one page in length (8 ½” by 11”) and can be comprised of anything appropriate for public viewing (including pictures).It will be hung up outside the SBA office. You should (at a minimum) state the position that you are running for and your name.

Here’s how to submit:

a)By email to as a .doc or .pdf attachment with the subject line: "SBA Candidate Statement for: [your name], [desired position]."

b)Please put your name, phone number, and e-mail address in the body.

c)Positions available:

  1. Elected:
  2. One 1L Representative per Super Section
  3. One 2L Transfer Representative
  4. Two LLM Representatives (elected through G&IP Office)
  5. Appointed:
  6. Event Chairs [2]
  7. Athletics Chairs [2]
  8. Law Revue Chair
  9. Supreme Court Chair
  10. Awards Chair
  11. CSO Advisory Committee [2-3]
  12. GSG Substitute Senator [2]

Campaigning: From 8am Mon., Sept. 7th – 5pm Fri., Sept. 11th

a)Candidates in SBA elections must abide by all restrictions contained herein and in the Student Handbook (available via the MyLaw Portal).

b)Candidates may not have more than two flyers posted per floor in the spaces adjacent to the elevators (with a maximum size of 8.5 x 11 inches), and may not have more than seven flyers posted in the area containing the student lockers (with a maximum size of 24 x 36 inches).To facilitate the enforcement of this regulation, all postings in any particular area must be numbered so as to indicate the total number of signs posted by the candidate in that area (e.g., 3 of 5, 4/7, etc.)These limitations do not apply to flyers that are posted by student organizations on their bulletin boards on behalf of candidates.

c)Candidates are encouraged to maintain the utmost standards of courtesy, respect, and professionalism in all things related to their campaign.

d)Candidates cannot begin campaigning before 8am on Monday September 7th. Candidates may not post announcements/fliers at the law school or electronically (via facebook, twitter, etc.) before the official start of the campaign week.

e)The SBA Election Committee and the SBA Executive Board reserves the right to disqualify any candidate if it concludes that the candidate has materially violated any provision contained herein.Once an election’s results have been finalized, however, a candidate may no longer be removed on these grounds, but rather must be removed in accordance with the SBA Constitution.And the candidate may still be subject to discipline, if deemed appropriate by the Dean of Students.
