Annual Boys Town Nevada Gala to Benefit Area Children and Families
LAS VEGAS-Boys Town will celebrate the accomplishments of its youth and recognize community members for their generosity at this year’s 9th annual “Journey of Hope” Gala event on May 16. The event will honor this year’s HOPE Award recipients Kevin and Silvia Buckley, for their hardwork and compassion given throughout the Las Vegas Community.
For many years, Kevin and Sylvia Buckley have in so many ways, led constant and constructive community healing.
Kevin began his career as a cadet, a police officer and a public information officer for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. He furthered his career by becoming a commercial real estate agent where he spent more than 30 years of his career. Kevin recently completed his term as chairman of the Boys Town Nevada Board of Directors. Silvia is a co-founder of a Las Vegas nonprofit, Freedom House Sober Living, which is dedicated to helping addicts recovering from substance abuse. Silvia’s compassionate leadership for the Freedom House has stretched its limited resources beyond imagination.
“The Buckley’s are true advocates for Boys Town,” said Nevada Executive Director, Howard Olshansky. “At every opportunity, they espouse the value of Boys Town’s services, not only soliciting philanthropic support, but ensuring our community is responding to the needs of our most vulnerable citizens. They are truly deserving of our Boys Town Nevada most prestigious honor.”
“The Journey of Hope” event will be held at the Venetian Resort, Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada at 6 p.m. beginning with a silent auction and cocktail hour, and will be followed by a dinner, live auction and entertainment by the Las Vegas Tenors. Guests are encouraged to wear cocktail attire with a splash, dash or touch of blue to the event. Sponsors for the event include the Venetian Hotel and Casino, Changing Lives Foundation, Stations Casino and Boyd Gaming.
