Health & Safety

  • Body Protectors – Beta Level 3 2009 is the minimum standard for x country.
  • Hat Tags – Please ensure that all hats are of the appropriate standard and have a white tag. If you need a hat tagged this can be done by a committee member at any rally – however please ensure that you inform prior to the rally to ensure that hat tags are available.
  • Concussion in Sport – It is of the upmost importance for the Pony Club to maintain health & safety for all of its riders. Therefore we want to ensure that all parents are aware of what concussion actually is; the symptoms of concussion and what to do if you think that your child has suffered concussion. The following information sheets covers these issues. We will also ensure that this information is on our web page for more details.

Decathlon and Sponsorship

Any North Down members and family can register for a Decathlon card and link it to North Down Pony Club to gain points for the Pony Club. We would encourage any members to think of Decathlon for sporting goods and to use the North Down membership card to boost the Club’s use of the store. This sponsorship is vital along with all other companies who provide sponsorship to the Club to provide prizes and low cost rallies and venues for members use.

SAFETY – A reminder to please do not leave ponies tied up unattended at any Pony Club Events. This is for your own safety. Thank you.

HATS - Hat tagging is necessary for all riders’ hats and can be carried out at most rallies. Hats should of course fit the rider. Symbols required are either BSI kite mark, the SAI Global Symbol or the official Snell label with number. The CE symbol on its own is not sufficient to ensure consistent standard of manufacture.

If you spot any errors or have any suggestions for ideas in the newsletter please let Karen McGlennon know.

Information on all aspects of the North Down Branch can be found at

Next Committee Meeting is 1st November 2016
