Elizabeth Fuselier Ellis, DNP, RN, FNP-BC, FAANP

Dr. Ellisis a family nurse practitioner who completed her Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP), Masters in Nursing and Bachelors in Nursing all at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center-College of Nursing in Memphis. In 1987 she completed a Bachelors of Arts degree in Business Administration from William Woods University. She is board Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner with ANCC.

Dr. Ellis currently practices in the areas of primary care, occupational health, and executive health with a focus on wellness and prevention. She has served as a Leader and national consultant in Advanced Practice Nursing since 2000 with expertise in Nurse Practitioner utilization and billing. In November of 2005, after having served as the Lead Nurse Practitioner for Ochsner Health System in New Orleans for five years, Dr. Ellis accepted an appointment at UTHealthSchool of Nursing as the Executive Clinical Director of UT Health Services, and Assistant Professor in Houston. In 2007, she was appointed to the Chief of Advanced Practice Consultant position at Memorial Hermann Hospital –Texas Medical Center as a collaborative effort with the School of Nursing where she served for four years. The leadership model she created at Hermann is now recognized nationally for Nurse Practitioners.

As a Practicing Nurse Practitioner, Dr. Ellis currently serves as volunteer site reviewer forThe Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), and has servedas a member of the CommissionsExecutive Board, Board of Commissioners and Accreditation Review Committee. Dr. Ellis will begin a new three-year term on the CCNE Board of Commissioners in January 2016. She served as the first practicing DNP on The Commissions DNP Standards Committee from 2007-2009.

Dr. Ellis is published in the area of Doctor of Nursing Practice education, nurse practitioner utilization and billing. She is an adjunct professor for UT Houston School of Nursing and serves on the DNP Advisory Board for the school. She hastaught extensively at the baccalaureate, Masters and Doctoral Levels. In June of 2010, Dr. Ellis was inducted as a Fellow of The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, which recognizes Nurse Practitioner leaders who have made significant contributions to health care.Dr. Ellis currently serveson the executive leadership team as the Director of Medical Operations for Advanced Practice Providers for Memorial Herman Medical Group creating an innovative workforce group, expanding nurse practitioner utilization and developing inter-collaborative models of care ensuring quality with a focus on population health.
