Procedures for Nationals of the Designated Countries Applying for Visitor Visas to the Republic of China(Taiwan)

Nationals of Afghanistan and Pakistan need to provide proof of having received a dose of OPV or IPV in the previous 4 weeks to 12 months by the time of applying visas to Taiwan.

The designated countries are listed as follows:

★ Afghanistan (need to provide proof of having received a dose of OPV or IPV in the previous 4 weeks to 12 months by the time of applying visa to Taiwan)

★ Algeria

★ Bangladesh

★ Bhutan(Nationals of Bhutan are eligible to apply for tourist visas. For Nationals of Bhutan applying for business visas, the guarantee of sponsorship from the applicant’s sponsor in Taiwan will not be requested.)

★ Cameroon

★ Ghana : can only apply business visas at this Office.

★  India (identity certificate) : can not apply visas at this Office, only at Taipei Economic and

Cultural Center in New Delhi.

★ Iraq

★ Nepal : can not apply visas at this Office, only at Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in New Delhi.

★ Niger

★ Nigeria : can only apply business visas at this Office.

★ Pakistan (need to provide proof of having received a dose of OPV or IPV in the previous 4 weeks to 12 months by the time of applying visa to Taiwan)

★ The Gambia

★ Senegal

★ Somalia

★ Sri Lanka(Nationals of Sri Lanka are eligible to apply for tourist visas. For Nationals of Sri Lanka applying for business visas, the guarantee of sponsorship from the applicant’s sponsor in Taiwan will not be requested.)

★  Syria

Nationals from these designated countries applying for visitor visas to Taiwan must fulfill the following procedures:

1. Nationals of the designated countries may apply for the R.O.C. visitor visas ONLY forthe following purposes, no application for other reasons or purposes will be accepted:

(1) Invited by ROC government agencies on official missions.

(2) Participating in international meetings or activities involving religious, athletic, or cultural exchanges, which are held by organizations registered in Taiwan.

(3) Visiting dependents with legal status in Taiwan, including spouse, family members of a lineal relationship, or siblings.

(4) Conducting economic or commercial businesses (including accompanied spouse and children may apply as well, proof of relationship is required).

(5) Crew members to board ships in Taiwan.

(6) Medical Treatment in Taiwan (short-term).

2. Nationals from the designated countries have to provide all required documents listed in “Information on the Republic of China (Taiwan) Visas” (A duly completed visa application form signed by the applicant. The application form must be filled in online. The website for the online service is: https://visawebapp.boca.gov.tw). In addition, Nationals from the designated countries are obliged to obtain a letter of guarantee (can be downloaded at www.boca.gov.tw) from their sponsors in Taiwan (except for the purpose of visits as mentioned at 1(1),(2)).

3. Applicants must submit in person and receive an interview (the next day after submitting the application) with visa officer. This office doesn’t provide pre-check service or application by mail. The visa processing time is 4 working days (4 days after applying day, pick up time is 09:00-11:30 AM), and express visa is 3 working days. It is advised for applicants to reserve more time for applying visa.

For certain visa application cases, this office might request the sponsors in Taiwan to submit relevant documents to the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for further examination. The Bureau will notify this office the final visa decision and the processing time could be longer than 7 working days.

4. If a Taiwanese sponsor/inviter provides guarantee and get a “V” cable number for the applicant from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Taiwan before the applicant submits visa application, the applicant still has to prepare all necessary documents that this office requested.

Document Required for Business Purpose:

1. A duly completed visa application form signed by the applicant; The application form must be filled in online. The website for the online service is: https://visawebapp.boca.gov.tw)

2. A passport valid for at least 6 months with blank page(s);

3. Two 2-inch size color photos;

4. Photocopy of the applicant’s passport basic information page and the page showing entry into Thailand.

5. Air ticket (shown the completed trip schedule from the origin country → Thailand → Taiwan → the origin country);

6. Bank statement of applicant’s company;

7. Certificate of employment and assignment letter issued by applicant’s company;

8. Valid company registration or business license of applicant’s company;

9. Invitation letter issued from a Taiwan company;

10. “Letter of guarantee” issued by a Taiwan company;

11. Valid company registration or business license of a Taiwanese inviter;

12. Related business correspondence letters, trading records (e.g., L/C, T.T., record of business transactions, remittance receipts, bill of landing…etc.) between applicant’s company and Taiwan inviter;

※ All above-mentioned documents should attach an English translation which has been certified by the authentication procedures through: Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the origin country → Embassy of the origin country in Bangkok.

Document Required for Attending International Conferences or Exhibitions in Taiwan:

1. up to 8. items same as mentioned as for business visas;

9. Invitation letter form the Taiwan organizer of conference / exhibition;

10. Detailed information about conference / exhibition.

11. Consular officers reserve the rights to request additional documents as deemed necessary in certain cases. A “letter of guarantee” may be required.

Document Requried For Visiting Relatives:

1. up to 5. items same as mentioned as for business visas;

6. Applicant’s I.D. card or household registration document;

7. Taiwan relative’s valid I.D. card or alien residence certificate(ARC) or permanent resident(PR);

8. Taiwan relative’s household registration issued by a regional Household Registration Office within the last 3 months;

9. Documents proving the relationship between applicants and Taiwan relative, e.g., birth certificate, marriage certificate or household registration document;

10. “Letter of guarantee” issued by a Taiwan relative;

11. Evidence of adequate finance (A.Bank statement or bank deposits passbook with at least 6 months deposit/withdrawal records. B.Personal ownership of real estate or certificate of taxation can be supplementary if certificate of bank deposit is not sufficient or unavailable) ;

Document Required for short-term medical treatment in Taiwan:

1. up to 7. items same as mentioned as for business visas;

8. Medical diagnosis from a local physician (Explaining the patient’s condition and the needs for an international medical referral) ;

9. A scheduled appointment and a proposal of treatment from a Taiwan hospital (Expressing willingness to treat this patient) ;

10. Evidence of adequate finance (A.Bank statement or bank deposits passbook with at least 6 months deposit/withdrawal records. B.Personal ownership of real estate or certificate of taxation can be supplementary if certificate of bank deposit is not sufficient or unavailable) ;

11. Relatives wishing to accompany the patient to Taiwan can also apply for visas (Proof of their relationship are required) ;

12. Consular officers reserve the rights to request additional documents as deemed necessary in certain cases. A “letter of guarantee” may be required.
