ROLE PROFILE

TITLE: Programme Manager – Global Strategy (People and Humanitarian)
TEAM/PROGRAM:SCI IP Humanitarian Directorate (50%)/ People Global Priority (50%) / LOCATION: London, UK
GRADE: TBC / CONTRACT LENGTH: Open ended
CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 3 - the responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have regular contact with or access to children or young people, therefore a police check is required.
ROLE PURPOSE:
The role holder will guide and project manage the implementation of two of the organisations global priorities, that will help us achieve key breakthroughs in relation to our new strategy and 2030 Ambition. This role will support the Humanitarian and People strands of these global priorities, and ensure that these project workstreams are fully integrated with the other policy and thematic areas that constitute our global priorities.
SCOPE OF ROLE:
Reports to: SCI Humanitarian Director (50%) and People Global Priority Lead (50%)
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Project Management
  • Work with the Humanitarian Director (50%) and People Global Priority Lead (50%)and the leads for each initiative in the strategy to developthe plans that will support the delivery of the strategy
  • Monitor progress on the implementation of those plans, and produce regular reports to key stakeholders.
  • Identify and mitigate key risks associated with the implementation of the strategy
  • Manage interdependencies between Humanitarian/People and other global Save the Children priorities, which includes, but is not limited to, sitting on the Strategy Implementation Working Group
  • Ensure that decisions are made in a timely manner, and that the right information gets to leads at the right time. Support the Humanitarian Director and People Global Priority Lead in gaining stakeholder buy-in for key decisions as needed
  • Prepare relevant financial budgets and carry out financial planning and budget monitoring under the guidance of the Humanitarian Director and People Global Priority Lead
Communications
  • Work closely with the Humanitarian Director and People Global Priority Lead to ensure effective dissemination of information within the Centre, to Members, and to Regional and Country Offices.
  • Manage the intranet site forthese Global Priorities
  • Facilitate communications on this strategy within Save the Children

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
  • Program and/or project management skills and experience related to organisational development projects and international, cross-functional teams
  • Robust experience in implementing organisational vision and strategies
  • Proven ability to deliver projects/programmes on time and in budget
  • Ability to organise own work efficiently, prioritise, and deliver multiple tasks to tight deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to thrive in a matrix management environment. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing and negotiation.
  • Dispute resolution, facilitation and team building skills.
  • Experience of solving complex issues through analysis, definition of a clear way forward and ensuring buy in.
  • Good writing skills, able to summarise accurately, draft reports requiring little or no editing, and use appropriate styles. An ability to understand complex issues, simplifying for external audiences.
  • Good verbal communication skills, exercising good judgement as to when to refer something on; able to communicate professionally with a wide range of contacts; able to show tact and discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential information.

Desirable
  • Experience in Humanitarian International Development and/or Human resources management would be a plus
