Topic Considered / Action or Recommendation
·  The syllabus for the internship
·  Senior project alternatives
·  Revising transfer application process to the Honors College / ·  The syllabus for the HONS 4698-Internship was presented to the committee via email for review before submission to curriculum committees for approval. Along with the internship experience, students will participate in 2 seminars:
o  Soft skills for the Workplace
o  Workplace-as-Text
·  Students will present orally and in writing reflecting on their internship experience. The written and oral projects should reflect materials covered in the Seminars.
·  Sue sent out emails to the community asking for ideas for alternatives to the Honors Thesis. The ideas provided were compared against alternatives to the thesis already offered as part of the Honors Curriculum.
·  Many of the alternatives offered were already options that students could already pursue in HONS 4901/HONS 4912 – Alternatives to Thesis and research lab experiences in Biology and Geology
·  Cindy met with Honors Advisory Board to find out what they would recommend. The Advisory Board encouraged students be involved with internships.
·  Cindy proposed adding a research paper about the Internship experience as an alternative to the Honors thesis:
o  HONS 4698 + HONS 4901 + HONS 4912
o  Cindy will beta test the Honors Internship/Research paper to see if there is any new uptake in completing a thesis project
·  Cindy proposed revising the application process for student transfers to CSU who were also interested in joining the Honors College.
o  An essay would be added to the application asking students to explaining how their educational experiences invited them to use a multidisciplinary lens in reviewing their education
