Dear Silverdale Families,

February was a bit of a blur this year. With a snow week, family day, a professional development day, a half-day for assessment and evaluation, it feels as though we were hardly at school.

I am excited about what is to come as we move our learning agenda forward. During the professional development day a number of staff took the opportunity to develop their understanding in the areas of Computational Thinking and Coding. These sessions have sparked a significant interest in increasing the integration of technology into regular classroom activities and extending what we are already doing in the Makerspace.

On February 21st the school board meeting was held at Silverdale Elementary. It was an excellent opportunity to share and celebrate the vast number of successes we have had here. The feedback from the Trustees was overwhelmingly positive and encouraging! There is a strong belief that this school continues to move in the right direction.

This is a great school and I am proud to be part of what is happening here!

International Department

We are currently accepting applications for nurturing homestay families who want to provide a caring “home away from home” for our elementary and secondary International students. Student placements can range from 2 weeks to 2 years or more. These paid positions are a wonderful way to learn about another culture and to share Canada with students from another country. Most International students are looking for a host family that includes Mom and Dad, as well as school-age children.

If you are interested in hosting students, please apply on-line: www.studyinmission.ca

·  Homestay → Become a Host Family → Click On-line Application
