INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Marketing/ Graphics Intern:

Interns will have the opportunity to edit, update, and design various graphic and marketing projects for Grandma’s House of Hope’s general marketing, ongoing programs and special events. Students will gain an understanding of nonprofit messaging, outreach and social media strategies. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

·  Assisting with the completion of the: monthly e-newsletter, working on templates for email marketing campaigns, flyer creation, web-related graphic edits.

·  Help maintain and possibly improve the GHH website

·  Improve SEO (search engine optimization)

·  Assisting in the management of various social media/communication accounts including:

o  Facebook

o  Twitter

o  LinkedIn

o  Constant Contact

Desired skills:

·  Comfortable with WordPress is a plus

·  Technologically savvy

Business Administrative/Human Resources Intern:

Interns will provide administrative and HR support to the GHH staff at the business office. Students will gain an understanding of nonprofit operations, basic human resource practices and communications strategies. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

·  Assisting with internal communication and external inquiry follow-up through email, phone calls and general reception

·  Coordinating donor mailings

·  Editing and update working documents and creating new procedure forms

·  Keeping minutes for team/ staff meetings

·  Maintaining and creating donor, volunteer and client files

·  Updating employee and volunteer/intern manual as needed

·  Verifying signed paperwork for employees, interns, and volunteers

·  Researching policies and procedures for various HR or legal practices

·  Research pricing and assisting with supply purchases and event orders

Community Relations Intern:

Interns will work to develop relationships with community groups as a representative of Grandma’s House of Hope through networking opportunities, community events and individual outreach for volunteer and fundraising purposes. Interns will work closely with the Volunteer Manager and Event Coordinator to gain an understanding of how nonprofit organizations operate, gain support and become sustainable. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

·  Assist in the planning of various events, including our annual: Recognition Luncheon, Festival of Hearts and Journey Through Hope and Healing

·  Assist in recruitment, screening, placement and training of volunteers

·  Interact with possible vendors

·  Organize guest lists and event logistics

·  Coordinate local business donations

·  Edit, create and assist with the development of event marketing materials

Fundraising and Donor Relations Intern:

Interns will work directly with the donor relations staff in learning the inner workings of our donor relations database. Duties include but are not limited to:

·  Helping with donor thank-you letters

·  Organizing information to be entered into our database by the database manager

·  Assisting in fundraising campaigns

·  Identifying and contacting potential donors.

Child Development/ Health & Nutrition Interns:

Students interested in early-childhood development or health and wellness are welcomed! Interns will be able to apply their theoretical learnings to child play and nutrition, tutoring and mentoring practices as well as gain an introduction to workshop development and education planning. Interns will tutor children at our HopeWorks Education and Enrichment Center, for a low-income family community. Interns will work one-on-one or in small groups with children and sometimes be involved with parent activities. LiveScan is required for this position ($35 fee). Duties include but are not limited to:

·  Assisting children with their homework

·  Teaching/ Facilitating: nutrition, health, wellness, exercise, art and craft projects

·  Writing workshops and providing other educational opportunities

·  Assisting with business administration projects such as recordkeeping

Qualifications:

·  Comfortable with Microsoft Excel is a plus

·  Senior and graduate students preferred in a related field of study, such as: human services, social work, child development/education, psychology, health or kinesiology.

Workforce Development Intern:

Interns will learn the processes of career coaching and receive an introduction to counseling as they experience hands-on cases and help to improve client situations through HopeWorks!, Grandma’s House of Hope’s Workforce Development program. Interns will be working one-on-one or in small groups with women at our transitional living homes, children and parents at our community center for low-income residents, or adults of “motel families” to assist with empowerment, education and the job search.
Duties include but are not limited to:

·  Teaching/ Facilitating: life skills, computer skills, job searching skills

·  Writing workshops and providing educational opportunities

Qualifications:

·  Strong communication skills are desired.

·  Comfortable working in settings in low-income neighborhoods

·  Senior and graduate students preferred in a related field of study, such as: human services, human resources, social work, business, ESL or financial literacy

Case Management Intern:
Intern will work directly with our GHH Case Managers in the daily operations of the in-office side of our Transitional Housing Program. Duties and learning opportunities include but are not limited to:

·  Organizing client files.

·  Learning how to and completing client intakes.

·  Helping to evaluate client’s progress in the program.

·  Drafting success stories to ultimately be presented to the Board of Directors and for community relations.

·  Assisting with any tasks delegated by Case Manager.

Community Leader - Housing Intern:
Intern will work directly with the GHH Housing Director in the daily operations of the in-home side of our Transitional Housing Program. Duties will be fulfilled at one of our two North Orange County locations (to be disclosed upon acceptance into our Internship program). Since interns will be working in-home with clients, we require a female intern who is mature and can provide compassionate care while being professional and approachable. LiveScan is required for this position ($35 fee). Duties and learning opportunities include but are not limited to:

·  Assisting with in-home intakes

·  Assisting the House Manager with workshop development

·  Creating and updating the Housing Program’s calendar of events

·  Supporting volunteer coordination
