Colonial Trade Project

We have been learning about the colonies during our Social Studies classes. For this project, you will be given a role to from the colonial times to act out. You will research this role and explain it to our audience during the Trade Fair.

Steps to take:

  1. Choose a trade or rolewithin your group.
  1. Research the role on the internet in class and at home.
  1. Design a sign or an illustrationto go along with your role.
  1. Write a descriptive paragraph about your role. Be sure to use correct spelling, capitalization, and punctuation.

Tell your name and what your role is.

Explain what you do every day.

Be specific about how you do everything.

Include information about any

special tools/equipment you need to use. (at least 6-8 sentences)

  1. Dress the part you are playing.

Please use the internet and other resources to get a general idea of the

clothing worn. Boys generally wore black pants with a white shirt, and a

hat. Girls wore long skirts, aprons, and bonnets. While I do not expect anyone to spend a lot of money on clothing, I am hoping some will use their own clothing and be creative. We will be talking in class about easy ways to make some pieces. Please ask your child to share these ideas at home. Check my teacher page for ideas. (Your child knows how to access this site.)

  1. Send in at least two or three items which resemble the tools/products/equipment used. These will be on display during our trade fair.
