Breastfeeding
A train the trainers event was held in 14th July 2015 and was well attended. The NCT Breastfeeding Welcome Scheme aims to facilitate greater acceptances and promotion of breastfeeding in commercial and community settings, with the overall goal of increasing breastfeeding rates. The website allows people to enter their postcode to find breastfeeding friendly venues within a certain radius. Work has been ongoing in the borough to sign up venues to the website as there was none registered in Stockton. SB is a Breastfeeding Peer Support worker and has agreed to hold a short training session with members at the next Locality Forum meeting.
A borough wide Task and Finish group was created to look at Prepaid Metres. It has been agreed that throughout the month of September Citizens Advice Bureau, Five Lamps, Customer Service at SBC and various Food Banks will be asking callers if they are on prepaid metres and if so if they are willing to receive advice and support to switch to a better tariff which could save them money. It is hoped that another meeting will be arranged in October to review the results of the work carried out in September and to confirm the package of support that will be offered to clients.
Asda is celebrating Yorkshire at Asda on Saturday.
The Food Hub on Thorntree Road will be looking for donations and support for collection points and to drop off food on a Thursday. / Noted
