ANNUAL ST. PATRICK PRADE OF JEFFERSON

RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. The St. Patrick Parade of Jefferson will parade on the Sunday before March 17th each year. The exception will be when March 17th falls on a Sunday, in which case the parade will be on Sunday, March 17th as stated in Ordinance #19572 adopted by the Jefferson Parish Council on 12-6-95. The normal route will be Severn to Metairie Road to Focis St. and Focis St. to Canal St.;

2.Trucks and Floats SHELL not exceed 16 ft. in height. No exceptions;

3.Confirmation and order form, along with the Entrance Fee must be returned before January 6th, 2017, in order to insure participation in the parade;

4.Participation in the parade is by invitation only and all Trucks, Floats and property trucks must be properly decorated and all riders in costumes appropriate for St. Patrick’s Day. All parading units must carry a comfort station, soap and hand wipes;

5.All rolling units must display the three (3) official position signs;

6.Any organization, whose member or members, caught or reported throwing cabbage or any missile which can cause injury to a spectator, will be arrested and that Unit will receive a Zero score and will not be invited back the next year.

7.There will be a minimum of five (5)Judges stationed along the route and will evaluate each group as it passes that point in the parade. Each Judge can award a maximum of 30 points, 10 for costume, 10 for decorationand 10 for performance. Any Organization who scores below 50 points will not be invited to parade again. Any rule violation can cause your organization to get a zero score and therefore cannot be a winner;

8.Drivers of any vehicle participating in the parade must stay with that vehicle. Under no condition are they to leave it without someone to drive it. All illegally parked cars in line up area will be towed away;

9.All colored beads and trinkets are allowed. Carnival doubloons and cups are not legitimate throws and are not allowed;

10.Advertisement of a commercial or political nature, anything obscene, microphones or megaphone’s are not allowed on trucks, floats or person;

11.The General Membership Meeting will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, March 3, 2017at the Elks Lodge at 2215 Cleary Ave., Metairie, LA and each organization MUST send at least one representative to the meeting, but more than that may attend. We will call the roll and each organization MUST be representedto receive their packet;

12.It will be the responsibility of each organization to notify the Captain of any change in address, email address, phone number and person in charge;

13.All positions in the parade are assigned in accordance with your last year’s score. If you finished No. 10 in your group last year, then your position in this year’s parade is No. 10. Awards will be given to the top three (3) units in each division: Trucks, Floats and Marching Clubs;

14.An Awards Banquet,for ALLparade participants, not just the winners,will be held on Saturday April 29, 2017from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at The Lions Club located at 1627 Metairie Road, Metairie, LA 70005 at a cost of approximately$30.00(or less) per person, which will include food and drinks. All winners will be notified in writing and each first place winner may bring four (4) representatives at no charge to receive their trophy. Each second and third place winners may bring two (2) representatives at no charge to receive their awards;and

15.It is the responsibility of each Organization to return the Confirmation letter and the insurance information to the St. Patrick’s Parade Committee of Jefferson, Inc., in order to receive a certificate of public liability insurance from Arceri & Associates, which covers Floats, Trucks, Vehicle Owners and each member of the group while parading. Insurance form MUST be COMPLETELY filled out with all information requested. Coverage shall be $1,000,000.00 liability plus medical coverage. This Certificate of Insurance will state that said policy shall not be cancelled until after the date of the St. Patrick Parade. The policy shall also name the St. Patrick’s Parade Committee of Jefferson, Inc., and Jefferson Parish as additional insured.
