Job Description:
Internal Auditors plan and conduct comprehensive internal audits and reviews of programs to determine if established policies, practices, and procedures are effectively and efficiently executed; if assets and resources are efficiently utilized and adequately safeguarded; if adequate managerial and accounting controls exist and function properly; and advise management on the results.Employees will prepare reports; examine various sources of information; and evaluate and appraise agency program operations.Employees may work as part of an audit team.
Trainees will receive a combination of structured training, on-the-job training, and/or practical job performance to gain the knowledge and experience necessary to function at the full performance level.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's or higher degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Business Management, Community Health, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science (Other), Criminal Justice, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Information Technology, Mathematics, Public Administration, Public Health, Public Policy, Political Science, or Statistics.

Salary:
Appointments to this job title require a two-year traineeship that starts at the Trainee 1, G-14 ($44,564), and advances, after one year of acceptable performance, to Trainee 2, G-16. After one year of acceptable performance as a Trainee 2, employees advance to the full performance, G-18, job title described above. No further Civil Service examination is required for advancement from Trainee 1 to Trainee 2, or from Trainee 2 to the full performance job title.
Starting salary for a Senior Internal Auditor G-18 is $55,494.
