Dear Parents/ Guardians:

We are pleased to inform you that, because your child has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement, exemplified worthy character, and maintained a commendable attitude throughout the school year he/she is cordially invited to join The National Junior Beta Club chapter at Ocoee Middle School.

The National Beta Club recognizes high academic achievement, promotes character and social responsibility, encourages service involvement to school and community, fosters leadership skills, and provides settings for your child to develop interpersonal relationship skills.

The one-time national membership fee is $15. Our school has opted to add an additional $15 to assist in funding our club activities. Your child’s membership fee of $30 will be due by Friday, February 5. The membership fee and completed and signed contract form (attached) need to be turned into Mr. Bagley in Room # 405 in the library. If you are paying by check, make payable to Ocoee Middle School and on the memo line write child’s name (first and last) and Beta Club.

Club meetings will be held once a month (unless otherwise stated), on Thursday at 7:40 in gymatorium. Meeting dates will be announced on the morning show and on the school website the days leading up to the meeting. Each student must attend a minimum of 3 meetings per semester to remain an active member. Your child will also be responsible for maintaining an A/B average for each 9week period and an overall semester average of an A/B (per subject), and participating in school and community service activities (a minimum of 5 separate service activities) to remain an active member of the club. See attached service credit sheet.

I understand as a member of the Ocoee Middle School Beta Club that I have a responsibility to maintain an A/B average during a Nine week period for each subject and have an overall A/B semester average for each subject. I will also exhibit high character traits and participate in service opportunities at Ocoee Middle School and throughout my community. I will show leadership skills through my academics, character, and community service and in doing so will represent the Ocoee Middle School Beta Club to the best of my ability.

I understand if I do not fulfill my obligations as a member of the Ocoee Middle School Beta Club, I will be placed on probation for a Nine week period or until certain criteria have been met. If I do not meet the criteria in place I understand I will not be able to remain an active member of the club.
