October 29, 2017Welcome to the Grafton Legion “Foote Notes” for November 2017
Hours: Closed Mondays. Open Tuesday, Wednesday from 2pm to 8pm. Open Thursdays from 2-6pm. Open Fridays 2pm to 8pm. Open Saturday from 2pm to 8pm. Our hours will change to Winter Hours very soon. Special events may alter hours slightly.
October saw many things happen! Our condolences to the Davey Family on the passing of Shirley Ann Davey. Shirley’s Celebration of Life took place at the Legion on Oct 14th. The Country Jam Sessions have started up for the winter, the branch put on a delicious Oktoberfest Dinner on Oct 20th and our usual weekly events took place.
Our annual Poppy Campaign began October 27th. Please remember to honour your pledge and help with the Poppy Fund by tagging somewhere in town. There’s a list posted in the Club Room. Sign up for an hour or two and help our Veterans!
It’s that time of the year again to begin putting forth your recommendations for Legionnaire of the year! Please keep in mind this should be a member in good standing that has shown exemplary commitment to the branch, going above and beyond their contributing duties. Place all nominations in a sealed envelope including the person’s full name, and reason why you feel they should be nominated for this award. Drop them in the PRO slot on the back of the Members Lounge door. Cut-off date for nominations is November 5, 2017. Nominations for Certificates of Appreciation also accepted!
Early Bird Membership renewal is on now! Renew your Legion membership before November 30th to show your ongoing support of Canada’s Veterans, keep all the benefits of your Legion membership, and get a brand-new Legion membership card! Thank you for your support and ensuring Veterans and their families have access to the services and programs your Branch offers and that Canadians never forget. Renew before November 30, 2017 and your name will be entered in a draw to have your 2019 Membership Fee covered! Renewal fee for 2018 Memberships is $60.00 and $45.00 for Seniors.
Our next monthly General Meeting is Thursday November 2nd at 7:30pm immediately following our Executive Meeting. Your input and point of view are appreciated, but if you don’t show up, we have no idea what you are thinking and the best way to be heard is to attend the General Meetings.
Our Table/Bench raffle ends Saturday November 4th! You can now purchase your raffle tickets at the bar for $5 each. This is a great fundraiser for the branch and an awesome prize for one lucky winner! Stop by the branch and buy a ticket!
Don’t forget about our annual Remembrance Day Ceremony at the Grafton Cenotaph (in front of the Arena) at 10:45am on Saturday November 11, 2017. We usually have a large crowd and your presence is appreciated. Join us back at the Branch for lunch!
