Oxfam Hong Kong is a member of Oxfam International. We are an independent development and relief agency based in Hong Kong. We work with people facing poverty and with partner organizations on development, humanitarian, policy advocacy and public education programmes.

We open intern positions to students to work at our various Units to learn about issues of poverty and related injustice, and to applytheir knowledge and skillslearned at school. Being an intern of Oxfam Hong Kong, you will have the chance to be familiar with the daily operations of an international NGO, and to learn about poverty and related injustice.

We currently havethe following intern vacancies at our China and the Developing World Team in China Programme Unit.

Title:

Intern – China and the Developing World

Background:

In response to an impact of China’s financial engagement with developing countries, Oxfam Hong Kong places a particular focus on the rights to sustainable livelihoods and to security of the poor in those countries by promoting development and investment policies and practices that are pro-poor, pro-equity and sustainable.

We are hence looking for 2-3 interns to assist the China and the Developing World Team in campaigns and research activities for this focus. Interns will support preparation and delivery of datasheets and briefs to partners and other programme team, in areas of research, communications, project coordination and partner management.

Job descriptions:

Interns are required to assist in research area such as collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data on China’s developments in global and regional development issues, with a particular focus on outward foreign direct investments; analyzing and translating research information. Besides, interns need to help stakeholders better understand development issues in China context; support and represent OHK in campaigns events whenever appropriate; write and edit partner stories for knowledge management purpose.

Requirements:

  1. Current enrollment in third / final year of undergraduate degree in international politics, international studies, sustainable development, China studies, social science, communications or related disciplines, from an accredited institution.
  2. Excellent research and analytical skills with knowledge ofUN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
  3. Good command in oral / written English and Cantonese / Mandarin
  4. Good level of computer literacy (e.g. Microsoft Office software)

Work schedule:16 hours per week per intern, work59 days from Sep 2017 onwards.

Number of Vacancies:2-3, together work 40 hours per week
