The Bureau of Transportation is seeking applicants for the position of Customer Service Supervisor for its Processing Section, located in Sangamon County at 527 East Capitol Avenue, Springfield, Illinois.
Brief Description of Duties
Supervises the day-to-day activities of the Processing and Information Section of the Transportation Bureau. Assigns work to staff members and monitors workflow in order to ensure the Section is providing timely and responsive customer service to members of regulated entities such as motor carriers, household goods movers, relocation towers, repossession agencies, repossession employees and warehouses. Develops, implements and revises policies for the Section. The position is responsible for evaluating staff performance and making recommendations to management regarding disciplinary matters, staffing, budget and operational issues. The position serves as a liaison with members of regulated entity associations, other governmental agencies, insurance carriers and other related groups; and performs other duties, special projects or research, as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Training and Experience Required
This position is an exempt merit compensation (non-CMS) position and is non-exempt from Rutan. This position reports directly to the Bureau Chief of the Transportation Bureau. Requires five years of progressively responsible work experience supervising employees including assigning job assignments, evaluating work performance, approving work schedules and training.Preferred candidates would possess knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in business or public administration and working with businesses and individuals in a regulated environment. Preferred candidate would possess familiarity with regulation under the Illinois Commercial Transportation Law, Illinois Commercial Relocation of Trespassing Vehicles Law, Collateral Recovery Act, Illinois Commercial Safety Towing Law, or Personal Property Warehouse Act and associated administrative code parts and the ability to apply this knowledge to direct staff members in assisting regulated entities, insurance companies, licensing bureaus and trade associations in individual situations.
The Customer Service Supervisor is an exempt merit compensation grade 11 position with a minimum salary of $44,400 per year. Work hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
