Consultant, Supply Chain Solutions

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Supply Chain Solutions Consultant works in small groups on a variety of supply chain projects that support new business development or re-engineers existing businesses for the purpose of improving operations and increasing profitability. Project areas include:

Pre-sales consulting

Supports global, regional, country and industry sectors sales by engaging in studies for improving supply chain operations of potential large accounts. Addresses issues such as sourcing, positioning of inventory, production planning, delivering finished product to market, warehousing, cross docking and order fulfillment.

Sales support

Supports global, regional, and country sales teams in responding to customer requests or RFPs focusing on retail, hi-tech, or other sector areas. Consultant works closely with industry sector teams in addition to Sales. Meets with internal teams and client, understands requirements, obtains data, develops solutions, estimates necessary warehouse space, labor and capital to service the account, and develops cost estimates and pricing scenarios to achieve acceptable profit margins.

Strategy/optimization studies

Conducts business strategy and optimization studies to support industry sector and product teams such as shipping strategies, reducing product time to market, optimizing inventory, production plans, location analysis and efficient ground networking.

Operational support

Supports industry sectors and product groups in the development of efficient standard methods and processes for new or existing business. For example, developing processes for the use of RFID technology by a retailer, or freight sorting at an air or overland hub. Develop optimal work flow and process improvements. Works with industry and product groups on developing and benchmarking and performance metrics.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

·  Meet with customers and internal groups including sales, industry sectors, and product groups to understand business requirements

·  Scope new business opportunity and projects

·  Develop project plans including clear objectives, deliverables, and timelines

·  Identify data requirements

·  Participate in data collection efforts and develop workarounds for missing or incomplete data

·  Develop inventory policies and facility slotting, facility sizing and layouts, labor plans and material handling and storage media requirements.

·  Develop warehouse and cross dock models for new as well as existing businesses

·  Solve models using various tools, develop proof of concepts, develop recommended solutions

·  Articulate, support, and sell results internally

·  Support implementation of developed solutions through training, process design and establishing KPIs

·  Review existing processes, monitor performance, and make recommendations for changes to achieve improvements

·  Support Sales, product groups, industry sectors, and bid units in responding to customer inquiries and RFPs by engineering warehousing and inventory policies, designing supply chain solutions, estimating required resources, estimating cost, and developing pricing scenarios.


Reporting Structure

The Consultant reports to Senior Vice President, Supply Chain Solutions. The Consultant must work well with our internal and external customers during project engagements. This would include:

·  Regions

·  Sales: global, regional, country

·  Industry sectors: retail, hi-tech, others

·  Product groups: warehousing, ocean, air, trucking

QUALIFICATIONS:

·  Bachelor’s degree required, Graduate degree preferred in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, or related field from a leading institution

·  2-5 years warehouse and inventory policy design experience

·  Proven expertise in one or several of the following areas:

o  Warehousing, distribution centers

o  Process design, and implementation

o  Forecasting, inventory management, procurement

·  Team work, sense of urgency, and commitment to success

·  Ability to work in a matrix environment under pressure and aggressive schedules

·  Expertise in one of the following fields is highly desirable:

o  3PL, contract or public warehouse company

o  Manufacturers or retailers (warehousing and supply chain role)

o  Consulting organization (warehousing, supply chain)

LANGUAGE SKILLS

The position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively in a diverse multicultural environment. English is the principal language for Agility Logistics; however, the position may require proficiency in other languages as necessary to be effective in the company culture and geography of the accounts served.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Proficient Microsoft Office applications and exposure in using supply chain tools such as:

o  Distribution and Warehousing Planning Models

o  Warehouse Management Systems (PkMS, EXE, other)

o  AutoCAD

o  Simulation

o  Forecasting / demand planning

o  Inventory Planning and Optimization

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires significant travel (up to 25%) to meet with customers and sales team members located in different regions or countries, therefore the ability to travel long hours by air plane, carry luggage, and drive a vehicle are also key physical requirements. The ability to effectively use technology (PDA, laptop, phone, etc.) to communicate and maintain productivity while traveling is required.

WORK HOURS AND ENVIRONMENT

Normal working hours for this position are Monday-Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, with overtime often required.
