This workshop has two specific content areas: Trauma Informed Schools and Effective School Crisis Response Planning.
Presenter: Cheri Lovre has nearly 30 years of experience in crisis response and trauma intervention and is an internationally acclaimed leader in the field. Cheri's dynamic and engaging approach has empowered a myriad of schools, organizations, and communities to successfully overcome crisis events. Her expertise has also placed her in high demand as a keynote speaker for statewide and national events.
Trauma-Informed Schools:
Becoming a trauma-informed school requires training that brings together cutting edge research in the field of psychological trauma and provides skills that enable staff to meet the needs of students affected by trauma. This workshop does exactly that. An understanding of the biochemistry of the fight-or-flight response coupled with strategies that help students find relief from overwhelming symptoms trauma can support greater recovery and student success.
Effective School Crisis Response Planning:
Done well, responding to smaller crises prevents the cascade of larger ones in the ripple-out effect, so all crisis response is, in a sense, also prevention. This workshop provides the structure and framework for responding to crises and provides flow charts and checklists to be certain that all critical aspects of the crisis receive the attention needed to respond well. Crisis response plans are a living organism, requiring flexibility, accountability, and updating to meet emerging needs. Handouts will include evaluations for team and staff members to provide feedback and insights. You can’t afford not to do this well!
Cost: $100 for each participant. Cost includes registration fee, materials and food. Lunch will be provided. A minimum of 50 registrations is needed to secure the workshop.
