This CD-ROM contains 1099 Pro® 1999 software. This software may be installed as either:
A no obligation DEMO which is fully functional with the exception of the print mechanism (only sample data will print), or the complete version when installed with your unique Activation Code.
NOTE: If you have already purchased 1099 Pro® 1999, you will find your code on your mailing label.

TO BEGIN INSTALLATION, CHOOSE FROM THE FOLLOWING OPTIONS:
Option 1 – First Time Installation
Use this routine if this is your first installation of 1099 Pro® 1999!
1. Close all programs. We also recommend disabling any virus checkers.
2. Insert CD-ROM into CD-ROM drive (or Disk 1 into floppy drive).
3. In Windows 95/98/NT click the Start button (located in the lower left corner of the desktop) and Run.
4. Browse for SETUP.EXE on the CD or Floppy drive. Click "OK" to begin the installation. The Wise Installation Wizard will prompt the user through the installation routine. If you do not have an Activation Code beginning with F (on your mailing label) then type in DEMO.
5. When first opening 1099 Pro® 1999, user will be prompted for password. DEMO users are encouraged to disable password.
Option 2 – Roll Forward Utility
Transfer recipient and filer data from 1099 Pro® 1998 (Version 4.2 or higher) to 1099 Pro® 1999:
1. Install 1099 Pro® 1999 as per above.
2. After installation is complete, exit 1099 Pro. Do NOT enter any information - the roll forward utility will override (i.e., ERASE) all records in the database!
3. In Windows 95/98/NT* click the Start button (located in the lower left corner of the desktop) and Run.
4. Browse for ROLL1998.EXE. This file is located at C:\program_files\1099pro9 unless a different destination directory was selected during install.
5. Click "OK" to initiate the roll forward utility.
6. Use the ellipse button to browse for your 1998 data file (e.g., filers.tps). This file is located at C:\program_files\1099pro8 unless a different destination directory was selected during install.
7. Click "Perform Database Copy".
8. Administrator will warn that all records in the database will be overwritten. Click "Cancel" to exit the roll forward utility and export records (for import at a later time) or click "OK" to continue roll forward. A running tally will display as data is "rolled" into database. Do not interrupt this process!
9. Open 1099 Pro® 1999 when roll forward utility is finished. Your 1998 filers may be selected at the Select Filer Screen. Your 1998 recipients may be accessed when adding a new record at the TIN field via the F2 key or by right clicking your mouse.
Option 3 – Copy Pre-Release Data
Copy recipient and filer data and dollar amounts from the "Pre-Release" to 1099 Pro® 1999.
1. Install 1099 Pro® 1999 as per above.
2. After installation is complete, exit 1099 Pro®. DO NOT ENTER ANY INFORMATION - the copy utility will override (i.e., ERASE) all records in the database!
3. In Windows 95/98/NT* click the Start button (located in the lower left corner of the desktop) and Run.
4. Browse for COPY99PR.EXE. This file is located at C:\programfile\1099pro9.
5. Click "OK" to initiate the copy routine.
6. Administrator will warn that all records in the database will be overwritten. Click "Cancel" to exit the copy utility and export records (for import at a later time) or click "Yes" to continue copy.
7. Use the ellipse button to browse for your 1999 Pre-Release directory which is located at C:\program_files\1099pre9 unless a different destination directory was selected during install.
8. Click "OK" to copy data into 1099 Pro® 1999**. A tally displays as data is "copied" into the database. Do not interrupt this process!
9. When complete, the 1099CNV9.INI file will display the status of the pre-release conversion.
10. All records copied from the Pre-Release to the Final version will show a status of “Pending.”
Option 4 – Fresh Start
Users often enter sample filer and recipient data while learning to use 1099 Pro® 1999. Use the uninstall utility for a "Fresh Start" of the software.
1. In Windows 95/98/NT click the Start button (located in the lower left corner of the desktop) and Programs.
2. Locate the 1099Pro 99 folder and select the Uninstall 1099Pro subfolder. The Wise Installation Wizard will prompt the user through the uninstall routine.
3. When uninstall is complete it may be necessary to manually delete the 1099PRO9 folder as residual files may remain.
PASSWORD OPTIONS:
When opening 1099 Pro® 1999 for the first time the user will be prompted to create a password. User may opt at this point to enable or disable password functionality.
Option 1 - Enable Password
1. At the New Password field enter your password and hit <Enter>.
· There is a 4 character minimum and 20 character maximum for passwords.
· Both alpha and numeric digits are acceptable.
· Passwords are case sensitive.
· Write your password in a safe place where you will be able to find it should you forget it!
2. At the Re-Type Password field re-enter your password and hit <Enter>. The password protection option will immediately take effect.
Each time 1099 Pro® 1999 is opened it will immediately prompt you for your password. Enter your password at the Password Required screen and hit <Enter>. 1099 Pro will allow the password to be entered up to three times. 1099 Pro will automatically close if after the third try the password is still incorrect.
Option 2 - Disable Password:
1) Check the "Disable Password Security" box and click "OK". The password function will immediately be disabled.
(Password functionality may be re-enabled at a later time.)
