AHOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND LARRY B. BROWN FOR HIS WORK WITH THE LOWER RICHLAND YOUTH DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION, AND TO CONGRATULATE HIM FOR BEING NAMED THE ORGANIZATION’S 2010 VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to learn that Larry B. Brown was named the 2010 Volunteer of the Year by the Lower Richland Youth Development Organization (LRYDO); and

Whereas, born in Gadsden in 1947, Larry Brown received education in the Richland County publicschool system, graduating from Hopkins High School, and he furthered his education at the then South Carolina State College; and

Whereas, he and his beloved wife, Helen W. Brown, reared two fine sons, Travis and Gregory, and he is a member of Zion Benevolent Baptist Church in Hopkins, where he serves as a trustee and treasurer; and

Whereas, for the past thirtytwo years, he has owned and operated the popular Big T’s BarBQue with three locations in Richland County, and his renowned sauce is distributed locally through Piggly Wiggly, Kroger, and WalMart; and

Whereas, with a communityminded spirit to benefit youth and their parents, he sponsors several sports teams and promotes character development in youth by participating in numerous local events to assist them; and

Whereas, Larry Brown has donated his time and services for the Annual LRYDO Gang Awareness and Prevention Dinner held at his Garners Ferry Road business location; and

Whereas, a local eleemosynary organization, LRYDO seeks to provide opportunities for youth to develop and nurture the necessary skills and positive character traits to become productive citizens of the community; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are grateful for the dedicated leadership that Larry B. Brown has given to his community and for the extensive and caring influence he has brought to bear on the youth of our State. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and commend Larry B. Brown for his work with the Lower Richland Youth Development Organization, and congratulate him for being named the organization’s 2010 Volunteer of the Year.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Larry B. Brown.
