General Education Requirements are the foundation of knowledge upon which all University of Missouri – Columbia degrees are built. All MU students must complete the General Education Requirements listed below. With careful planning, some courses may be chosen to meet both University General Education requirements, and one or more of the divisional, degree and major requirements. All degree programs require a minimum of 120 hours to graduate, some may require more. To meet this total, a combination of general education requirements, courses in the major, and electives should be taken. Students may also choose to add a double major or minor. Students are strongly encouraged to meet with an academic advisor to ensure progress towards meeting requirements and graduation.
