HANDS-ON HERITAGE HOUSE-- Come join fun historical hands-on activities and exhibits inside the California bungalow style Stevens-Haustgen House. Look through a stereoscope, try your hand at old fashioned games, investigate the tools of kitchen and laundry duties over 100 years ago and more. This participatory exhibit space is also the headquarters of our scheduled school tours and Heritage Saturday activities. CIVIC SPACE SUMMER YOGA & CONCERT SERIES-- Every Thursday night begins with Yoga Classes for all ages, 6:30 -7:30 p.m., then live concert from 7:30 – 9 p.m. Bring your own mats for Yoga and a blanket or chair to sit under the stars! SILENT SUNDAYS TO NORTH MOUNTAIN PARK-- Cyclists, skateboarders, wheelchair users and stroller-riding tots will soon get to call the roads of North Mountain Park their own one day each month when the Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department expands it’s popular Silent Sunday event to the area. North Mountain Park, 10600 N. 7th Street, will host Silent Sundays from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., normally on the 2nd Sunday of each month (except holidays). Vehicles will park in the lot at the Havasupai Ramada reserving the park’s roadways for non-motorized use. Trailhead access sites outside of the park will remain open to vehicles. (602) 495-5506.

FAMILY CAMP - HUMMINGBIRD PROGRAM-- All ages. Camp Colley, is the parks department’s outdoor adventure camp on the Mogollon Rim. The camp is located 150 miles northeast of Phoenix, between Payson and Winslow off Highway 87. We will spend time hiking to springs on some of the most beautiful trails on the Mogollon Rim. We will also visit the Moqui Fire Lookout Tower where we will meet hummingbird Helen to observe and photograph hummingbirds up close while atop the forest canopy. We will be participating in other fun family camp activities as well. We will also help build and maintain hummingbird habitat, as well as learn how to create your own habitat at home. NATIONAL PUBLIC LANDS DAY (NPLD)-- NPLD is the nation's largest hands-on volunteer effort to improve and enhance the public lands American’s enjoy. During this yearly event, Americans work together to restore and connect with public lands through service projects and outdoor recreation. As a supporter of the Let’s Move Outside and America’s Great Outdoors initiatives, National Public Lands Day is especially dedicated to engaging young people to be active and conserve America’s treasured places. This event is ideal for your active club, employee group, friends and family to enjoy the Arizona National Scenic Trail. We’ll do some light trail maintenance along the way to leave this trail a little nicer than we found it. All ages. Adult fee: $75, youth fee: $25. SILENT SUNDAYS AT SOUTH MOUNTAIN: On Silent Sundays (the 4th Sunday of each month), bicyclists, tots in strollers, in-line skaters and wheelchair users get to call the Park's roadways their own. Starting at 5 a.m. the park's roadways past the Central Avenue gate will be reserved for non-motorized use. South Mountain Park is located at 10919 S. Central Avenue. 602 495-5811.
