UNIFORM POLICY AND DRESS CODE
Dear Parents:
We believe that coming to school properly groomed helps establish worthwhile, lifetime habits. Wearing acceptable attire helps maintain a safe and healthy environment that does not interfere with the instructional program. Students at Cimarron Avenue School shall maintain their clothing in a modest, clean and orderly manner.
Our local leadership council, which is comprised of teachers and parents, has adopted a school uniform policy.
Boys: Gray slacks or knee length shorts and white or burgundy shirt
Girls: Gray, burgundy or gray plaid skirts, skorts, knee-length shorts and/or pants and a white or burgundy shirt.
All children are expected to wear uniforms Monday through Thursday. Fridays are spirit days. Students should wear uniform or appropriate clothing; comfort and modesty are the guidelines.
Shirts and blouses should cover the stomach and any writing or design should be in good taste. Shorts are fine, however, short shorts and lycra/lace shorts are not appropriate. Shorts and skirts should be just above the knee. Sandals are not safe because open toes can be stepped on. Hats are not acceptable and boys are not allowed to wear earrings for safety reasons. Please mark all items clearly so that if lost, they may be returned to the proper owner when found. Lost items will be put in the LOST & FOUND area in the cafeteria and will be given away after 30 days.
For safety purposes and to eliminate distractions to learning the following dress code will be enforced:
No oversized clothes
No valuable or oversized jewelry
No sandals, high heels, open toed shoes or thongs
No bare midriff, bareback or tube tops
No short shorts or short skirts (knee length or just above the knee is appropriate
No low rise pants
No inappropriate language or pictures on clothing
No hats or sunglasses
No earrings for boys
No make up ( face, lip or eye) or false nails
Please discuss this dress code as it applies to your child/children. Parents will be notified if dress is deemed inappropriate. If you have any questions interpreting items of the dress code, feel free to contact us.
Sincerely,
Cynthia M. Williams Rose Amah
