3.  You are adding a deck to your house. You need to buy some lumber to get started. You have to buy some pieces to provide support under the deck and you need to buy pieces that will be used for the floor of the deck, which will be seen. You go to then lumberyard to pick out your lumber. List three characteristics of good quality wood you would use for the supports under the deck. List three characteristics of good quality wood you would use for the floor of the deck.

4.  For the lumber you bought in question 3, would all the characteristics of the lumber for the supports be the same as the characteristics of the lumber for the floor? Why or why not?

5.  You now have the wood for you deck. You know that you will have to store some of it while you are building. List at least three things you should consider when storing your lumber.
